Dan Ackroyd





Dan Ackroyd was born on July 1, 1952 in Ontario, Canada. He got his first big break in 1972 when he began co writing, Directing and starring in 15-minute shorts for a private cable company. That same year Dan joined the famous Second comedy troupe in which he was in with John Belushi. He then starred in his first feature Love at first sight.
In 1975 he joined the first cast of the new show Saturday Night Live, also along with his partner John Belushi. He created probably one of the most famous sketches that he called the Blues Brothers, along with Belushi; they made two blues brothers’ albums and one blues brother’s movie. With Belushi he also stared in the films 1941 and Neighbors. Lately Dan starred in the sequel to the Blues Brothers, the Blues Brothers 2000, in which John Goodman replaced John Belushi. Dan, John, and Jim Belushi did the super bowl half time show as the Blues Brothers also.
Dan received best supporting actor for his role in Driving Miss Daisy.
Dan co-owns The House of Blues and Co-owns The Hard Rock Café both very successful restaurants.
