Walter Matthau

Walter Matthau, probably one of the most famous comedians ever, most probably know him best in his roles beside Jack Lemmon (Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men, Out to Sea, Odd Couple One and Two). He was in many ways one of the last living comedian legends. With his droopy face, and baritone voice he delighted millions. He is probably best known for his character Oscar, In which he portrayed in The Odd Couple.
He was born on October 1, 1920 in New York, New York. He attended Columbia School of Journalism, and the Dramatic Workshop of the New School for Social Research, New York
He entered films in 1955 with The Indian Fighter, before this he had a prolonged career of stage work. In his career he directed one film A Gangster Story, which starred his son Charles Matthau. He was nominated for acting three times and one once with the Fortune Cookie, the other two films he was nominated was Klotch and the Sunshine Boys.
Walter died of a heart attack in July 2000 at the age of 79. Matthau had on going health problems, suffering his first heart attack during the Fortune Cookie. (1920 - 2000)
