Chapter Twelve *No Way!*

April walked back into the restraunt.

“April where were you? I was getting worried.” Her mother said to her taking back the ATM card and the thirty dollars.

“Oh sorry mom I walked right by it and then when I realized it there was a line.” She lied to her mother and walked back to her seat. Amy, Monique, Mariah, Erin, and Desire’e were having a deep converstation. “Hey I’m back.” She said sitting down next to Monique. The food hadn’t arrived yet, but the bread was gone. “Thanks for leaving me some bread.” She laughed at the girls.

“What took ya so long Apes?” Monique said to her. Again April had to lie. She knew that Monique would believe her, but she was going to tell her that when they both were alone.

“Oh well there was a line at the store. Its so not like Boston.”

“How do you figure?” Mariah said to her. “Here have the rest of mine I don’t want it anymore.” She said handing April half of some bread.

“Thanks. Well, in Boston everyone moves faster at ATMs. Here they are like my grandmother.” Everyone laughed. Tulsa was different from Boston. There they knew where to get the best food or where to shop and stuff. Tulsa just had painful memories, but they did get the opportunity to meet very nice people.

“Oh I see.” Mariah said. Just then the waitress brought the food over.

“Pasta with not a lot of sauce?” She said.

“Me.” Erin exclaimed taking the plate.

“Chicken cutlet?”

“That would be me.” April said.

“Which two has the meatball subs?”

“I do and so does Amy.” Desire’e said.

“Italian sub?”

“Thats me!” Monique said practially jumping out of her seat.

“So I guess the veal is yours?” The waitress said to Mariah.

“Yep. Thanks a lot.”

“Well, enjoy your meal. If you need anything else my name is Louise.” She said walking away. The girls started to eat their meals in silence. It was about eight thiry when they left the restraunt. Everyone was tired so they headed back to the Tulsa Place to sleep. Tomorrow they would be leaving. All the way home April was trying to figure out how to get alone with Monique and tell her.

Amy is always near her. That is going to be the problem. She thought to herself. The way back to the hotel was spent talking about the meal and such. Finally they reached the hotel. They said good-bye to Mariah, Erin, Desire’e, and Mariah’s mother and headed for bed. April had thought of a way to get Monique alone to tell her about Isaac.

“I’m going to take a shower before I go to bed.” Amy said getting clothes out of her suitcase and walking into the shower. April walked over to the mirror which was near the bathroom door to hear when Amy turned the shower on. Finally she heard the water run then the shower part turn on. OK I have at least twenty minutes until Amy gets out. April said to herself.

“Hey Monique I want to show you what I was talking about at the all night buffet.” April said pulling Monique up and taking her outside onto the balcony.

“Huh?” Monique said when they were out there. “What are you talking about?”

“Nothing sit down.” She said in a whisper.

“April you are so confusing me and why are you whispering?”

“Well, I have to tell you something. You have to believe me. I swear upon Taylor and my nana’s graves that I am telling you the truth. Just promise you won’t tell another living soul?” She said extending out her pinky.

“It depends on what it is.”

“Fine then I won’t tell you.”

“Ok Ok what is?” She said linking her pinky with Aprils.

“OK you know how I went to the store to get some money for my mom?”

“Yeah.”

“Well there wasn’t a lot of people in front of me.”

“So big deal what a big secret.” Monique said getting up. April pulled her back down.

“No let me finish. Ok well there was someone in front of me. A guy to be in fact. He was having trouble using the ATM machine so I offered to help him. When he turned around his face looked so familiar. Then I realized it was Isaac.” Monique’s mouth dropped open.

“No way. You are lying.”

“I told you that I swear upon Taylor and my nana’s graves that I am telling you the truth.”

“Ok so then what happened. Details girl!”

“Well I helped him with the machine. Then I thought he had left so I started crying because I told him how sorry I was and stuff. The thing is that he was standing like five feet behind me. He put his hand on my shoulder.” Again her mouth was open.

“No way.” That is all Monique would say. Maybe it was all that she could say.

“You will not believe what happened next. I actually cried into his chest. Isaac put his arms around me and cried with me. He told me that it was going to be alright. Then I gave him my number and stuff. He said that he would try and call me. Monique, Isaac Hanson has my telephone number, address, E-mail address, everything!” Monique couldn’t believe what her friend just told her. She was speechless.

“Wow. I can’t believe that. I promise I won’t tell anyone. I’m glad you told me.”

“I wasn’t going to tell anyone, but I knew that I could trust you.” She said. Just then there was a tapping at the glass door. It was Amy. Just in time. April thought to herself.
