Chapter Fourteen *The Nightmare*

Monique got up in the middle of the night to meet April. April’s bed was right next to hers so she looked at it to see if April had left, but she was fast asleep. Should I wake her? Is this issue really that important? Monique thought to herself. She stood there bitting her lower lip asking herself these questions over and over again. She decided to let her sleep because their flight back to Boston was early the next morning.

It was about seven o’clock in the morning when Ann woke up. She looked at the three sleeping girls and decided to let them sleep a little bit more. “I guess I’ll go down and get a cup of coffee.” She said outloud. Ann picked up her suitcase and took out her clothes for the day. Got dressed and wrote a note to the girls telling them where she was going and left.

“NOOOOOOOOO....please....stop....don’t......” Amy screamed. She was having a nightmare. It woke Monique and April up instantly. April jumped up and tried to wake Amy. She was shaking and sweating tremendously. She started beating April and crying.

“Mo what do I do help me!” April started crying. “Amy wake up please wake up!” She was shaking her. Monique ran into the bathroom and got a cold towel and the girls tried to wake her up.

“Its not working. Where is your mom?” Monique said she started crying as well. “C’mon Am its just a dream wake up.” She screamed at her cousin. “Where the hell is your mom April.”

“I..I ...I don’t know.” She got up and looked around the room. She found the note and read it quickly to herself. “She went for a cup of coffee. I’m going to go and get her.” She said running out of the room. April wasn’t dressed and didn’t have any shoes on just socks. She ran down the hall where the elevators were and pushed the down buttom. “C’mon you stupid elevator!” After about a minute the elevator door opened. She jumped in and hit the “L” for lobby. A few seconds later the door opened and April bolted for the buffet door. She opened the doors and scanned the people for her mother. She found her in the corner near a window drinking a cup of coffee. “Mom” she cried running towards her.

“April whats wrong?” She said jumping up. April took her hand and ran towards the elevator. They retraced April’s tracks back to the room.

“Oh no I don’t have a key?” April said banging onto the door. Monique opened it and pulled them inside. “Did she wake up yet?”

“No I don’t know what to do. Mrs. Hogan help her please?” She said. Amy was still shaking. It had been ten minutes since Monique and April had woke up by her screams.

“PLEASE TAYLOR DON’T LEAVE ME....DON’T DO IT!” She screamed once more.

“April downstairs there was a doctor he is wearing a green stripped shirt and was sitting behind me. Go and get him!” She told April. Ann held Amy in her arms and rocked her back and forth trying to get her to wake up. April again opened the door and ran to the elevator. She started getting out of breath from running back and forth. Again the elevator doors opened to the lobby. The person behind the desk was getting confused from seeing her running back and forth. April opened the door to the buffett and scanned the crowd again. She saw that the person her mother described was sitting alone. She walked to him and tapped him on the shoulder.

“Excuse me, but my mother told me to come down here and get you. Are you a doctor?”

“Yes I am. Is there a problem?” This old man of about forty asked. He put down his newspaper and looked at April’s face which was beat red with tears.

“Well, my friend is having a nightmare and she won’t wake up. We don’t know what to do? Can you help us?” She asked him.

“Yes I can. Well where is your room?” He asked her.

“Its on the fourth floor.” She said. He got up and followed her. April could now get to the room blindfolded. She knocked on the door. Monique again answered it and showed them where Amy was. The doctor sat down next to her and took her pulse.

“Her heart is racing.” He said. He started running tests on her. Her heart rate started to go down to its normal pace. Then she opened her eyes.

“Where am I?” She said.

“Remember you are in Tulsa?” Monique said.

“Well she is alright now. Just have her drink some water and eat some food. Take it slow Amy.” The doctor said to her. Then he just let himself out of the room.

“What happened to me?” Amy looked at everyone in the room.

“You were having a nightmare and we couldn’t wake you up.” April said to her. By that time it was almost nine thirty in the morning.

“Girls I hate to say this but if we don’t get a move on it we aren’t going to get to the airport by ten.” Ann said. Amy got up and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked awful. She had a dream that she was with Taylor when he was going to commit suicide. She tried to stop him, but nothing worked. Ann picked out clothes for Amy. “Here you go. Are you hungry? I can order some room service.” She said putting her arm around her.

“No I’m fine. I’m going to change now.” She said going into the bathroom and putting her clothes on. April and Monique were packing their clothes up.

“I can’t believe we are leaving. Its over. He is gone.” April said to Monique. Tears started streaming down both of the girl’s faces. After about ten minutes everyone was outside and a cab was coming for them. Maybe their lives would be back to normal, but as of now the pain had just begun.
