Chapter Seventeen *Monique's Plan*

“April, get the telephone.” Her mother called from the laundry room.

“Ok.” She did as she was told and walked into the living room to pick up that phone. Before picking up the phone she sat down on her black leather couch and pulled the recliner part out. “Shello?”

“Apes you are so corny.” The voice on the other end said to her.

“AOL.” She said instead of “oh well.”

“I’ve got the best idea in the world.” Monique said to her.

“Wow someone call the newspapers Monique has an idea!!!”

“Shut up! Ok do you know whats in one month and nine days?” She said to her. April thought for a little while before answering her.

“Um no.”

“You don’t even remember?”

“Like I said no. I can’t think anymore with him gone.” She trailed off. She had told herself that no more tears would be shed only happy thoughts would fill her mind. That was hard considering that when she turned on the television they were still talking about it.

“Its the one year anniversary of the Great Woods Concert.” Monique reminded her friend.

“Oh yeah I totally forgot.” There was a silence before anyone spoke next. “So what about it?”

“Well, come to my house and I’ll explain it.”

“I don’t know if I can get a ride. Why can’t you tell me over the phone?”

“I want to see the look on your face!”

“OOOKKKKKKK. I have to ask my mom. She is doing laundry.”

“April get down here and put your clothes away.” Her mother called from downstairs.

“Hey Mo I’ve gotta go my mom is calling me. I’ll get back to you when I can about coming over.”

“Okey dokey. Talk to you later.”

“Ok bye.” April hung up the phone. April got up and pushed the recliner into the seat. “I’ll be right down mom.” She walked into the small kitchen and opened the refridgerator. “Hmm what do I want to drink?” April decided on a can of Pepsi.

“April are you even still up there?”

“Yeah mom I’m here. I just needed to get a drink.” She started walking down the staircase.

“Its on your bed. Put it away this time.”

“Ok.” She walked into her room. I need some music she thought. She set her Pepsi can down on her desk and walked to her CD rack. April had 35 Cds ten of them being Hanson ones. After about ten minutes of looking at them she decided on nothing and started to put her laundry away. “Mom I’m done.”

“Ok thats great.” Her mother called from her bedroom.

“Yeah I’ve got a question.” April walked into her parent’s bedroom and sat on their king size bed.

“What is it?”

“Can you drive me over to Monique’s house? She has this surprize for me.”

“Um sure I have to go that way to pick your father up from work. We are leaving now though.”

“Sweet. I’ll go call Mo back.” She ran into her bedroom and picked up her phone.

“Yeah?”

“Is Monique there?”

“Yeah who is this?” Her mother asked.

“It’s April.”

“Ok hold on. MONIQUE, APRIL IS ON THE PHONE!” Her mother screamed.

“I’ve got it mom you can hang up.” She waited for the dial tone before talking. “So can you come over?”

“Yeah I’m leaving right now.”

“Cool I’ll be on my porch waiting for you.”

“Ok bye!” April hung up the phone and walked over to her closet. “Where are my sneakers?” She found them in the corner of the closet.

“Hurry up.” Her mother called. April ran up the stairs and out the door to her car. Everything seemed to be going fine after Taylor’s death. Well, looks can be decieving. All the way to Monique’s house April wondered what that girl had up her sleeve.
