Chapter Twenty-Five *His Presence*

June 25th (the night before the vigil)

Monique came out of April’s bathroom holding her toothbrush. It was the night before the vigil. The girls were really scared of talking in front of that many people. All they had to do was express how they felt and that would be it. It sounded so easy when you were just talking about it.

“Man I’m tired.” Monique said falling onto the bed that she had at April’s bed. Monique’s so called “bed” was a fold up chair in April’s room. Ocassionally April would be sleeping on it when a lot of other people slept over. All that day the girls were setting up at the Tweeter Center.

“Yeah, but we did a lot today.”

“I know. If only Taylor could see this. If only we didn’t have to...” Monique trailed off not wanting to cry. The one thing that they had to set up today was a huge picture of Taylor in the middle of the stage. Before the vigil the following day they would light candles all around it.

“Monique he is watching us.” April said. She was so tired from that day that she didn’t have any energy to get up and hug her friend.

“I know.” She said softly. A few minutes later April heard the breathing of Monique drifting off to sleep. The next day they had to be at the Tweeter Center by five o’clock. April still didn’t know what she was going to say. She had been thinking about it non-stop since she found out about it. Now since she was on summer vacation she had more time. That time though was spent organizing everything and making sure that there was enough people going. Also helping Monique with her speech. About an hour after Monique fell to sleep April joined her. Both breath in unison and dreaming of Taylor’s smiling voice shining at them. Somehow he was with both of those girls that night in their dreams. Telling them that he was okay and thankful for what they were doing for the fans. His presence was so great that night.
