Chapter Twenty-Nine*Wind*

“Its almost time.” April said looking at her watch. They had about five more minutes before they would go out and make their speeches and light the candles. Isaac and Zac were right beside them each of them holding hands. They prayed to God to take care of Taylor. Even though Monique wasn’t really into religion she prayed with them. Then the time came and April, Monique, Isaac, and Zac walked on stage carrying the white candles. Isaac held the matches while the girls spoke. April didn’t even have a speech planed out. She was going to just say what was on her mind.

“ Before I speak I’d like to take this time to thank Mr. Anthony Garret who let us use the Tweeter Center. It is him who put this whole night together. Monique just had a vision.” She turned to Monique and smiled. “I don’t have a speech planned out tonight so just please bare with me. I started to like Hanson because the music enlightened me. I was really down at the time and the lyrics to almost every song reached out to me. Hanson was there when I needed them and now I want to be there for them when they need me. The fans might not know this, but Isaac and Zac really do need us. To show them that they aren’t the ones who are hurting inside, but we are also. So Isaac and Zac if you ever need anything just ask one of your fans and we are here for you.” April turned to them with tears streaming down her face and mouthed “thank you.” They smiled to her. “Now I’d like to introduce my best friend Monique.” April stepped off the podium and walked over to Isaac and Zac and got her candle from them.

Okay Monique just breath. She thought to herself. “Friends, fellow Hanson fans, news reporters, and especially Isaac and Zac and the rest of the Hanson family thank you for coming out tonight. I’m glad to see so many people here to remember Taylor. Like April Hanson has helped me. I know that they have helped out most of the Hanson fans out there. Taylor’s shining face made us smile even when nobody else could. Going to a concert and watch his energy and enthusiam made us have even more than we already had. He gave it all and now we are here tonight to give it all to him. He is watching us and smiling to see how much the fans have stuck together. We shouldn’t break apart in times like this. We can help each other just like he and his brothers helped us. Lets please just bow our heads right now and remember the fourteen others who didn’t have anywhere else to turn. Who needed Taylor to survive. Well, Taylor this night is your night. Thank you for everything that you gave us. Thank you.” She walked off of the podium. April handed her the candle. The girls both walked back to the podium.

“Every now we are going to light the candles. Remember while you are lighting them to think of Taylor and the happy memories.” April said. Everyone started to light the candles. The whole Hanson family walked onto the stage. Mackie and Zoe held fake candles since they were so young. When April and Monique saw that everyone was done with the candles they looked out into the audience. It was a sea of lights. Monique nodded to April and they walked back to the microphone. They started to sing “With You In Your Dreams.” Of course they got permission to do so from Isaac and Zac before they went out. During the course of the song everyone had joined in. Including the Hanson family.

“Cause I’ll be with you in you....” Then there was a gust of wind and everyone’s candles blew out. Everyone’s except the candles that were before Taylor’s picture. It felt like Taylor was with them. Monique and April continued with the last word “Dreams.” After about ten minutes everyone had started to leave. It was unbelievable how the wind blew out everyone else’s candles except Taylors.

“Thank you guys. We hope to keep in touch.” Isaac said to them. They hugged once more and the Hanson family was escorted out to their van. April and Monique went outside and talked to reporters then went home themselves. It was a long night but a night that they would never forget.
