Change of Seasons

Change of Seasons by Danielle Barboza

cattail sways in icy breezes,
snowdrift steps up tall,
beautiful brook frozen through
by Winter's whispered call

butterfly has gone away now,
buds all bloomed and died,
bees no longer buzz here,
and birds no longer cry.

Darkness sweeps abandoned roads,
comfort doesn't seem to come,
world is trapped in eternal dusk
without the comfort of the sun.

but soon emerging is the light,
soon coming is the dawn,
ferns are peeking out of frost,
called forth by Spring's waking yawn.
