Top Ten Hardest NES Games
10. Adventure Island II
9. Kid Icarus
8. Ikari Warriors
(by Andrew Rae)I pretty much doubt you'll ever be able to even get past the
first level. Your guy walks like a 90-year-old [slow], and there's more
enemies in that game than any other [on any other system, may I add]
combined. And if you do manage to beat a level, you'll probably die of old
age. There are only 4, however. The only good part of this game is that
you get tanks and helicopters to ride in. You must keep them fueled up,
though, and if your vehicle gets hit by a grenade or some other
out-of-nowhere object, you can't get out in time before the thing blows up
and kills you! Speaking of which, you can also get blown up by your own
grenades! I know SNK wanted to make a more realistic shoot-em-up, but come
on!
8. Bump 'n' Jump
The levels start out extremley easy, but they get
harder and harder, because the roads get narrower and narrower,
and the jumps get closer and closer as you go along for
about 15 levels. Then you get to the final boss who is
a total joke. AAAAAAAAAAAARRGGG NO CONTINUES!!!
7. TMNT
6. Life Force
It's 2X as hard as Contra. Even with the 30 live code this game is
still a toughie. Not only do you lose all power ups when you die,
you also start back farter in the level. Once you
reach halfway through the level, there aren't any power ups, which
by the way you really need in order to kill the boss.
Be prepared to die in the first level, many, many times
in this bad boy
5. Impossible Mission II
Well, they don't call it Impossible Mission for nothing. This game never ends!
First, you need to collect numbers in each level, and then
crack some code (which is three digits long) with those
numbers that you collect. You do this in the first nine levels.
Then in the next level you collect music clips and once
again, you have to piece them together. Then you have to
defuse a bomb after making it through another level. But
here's the catch, one is the real bomb, and the others
are dummies lined with electricity. You also have no
gun and a timer to beat this game in. Fun.
4. Ninja Gaiden
3. Rolling Thunder
Picture Contra with bad music, faster enemies, and 40
levels and you get Rolling Thunder. This game seems to never end.
I can't even beat the last level with infinite lives.
If you get shot or run into an enemy twice, you die. It is
way to hard to make the game fun. It's too bad too
because it would be a cool game if it wasn't so hard.
I can't even beat Level 1-4, Those stupid hooded guys
always manage to pick you off right as you are about to
finish the level.
2. The Adventures of Bayou Billy
1. Battletoads
I only know of one person out of about twenty who
own this game and can beat the third level. I still
wake up in a cold sweat after thinking about how close
I've come to beating this level. That is
also the most easiest level from then on also. The
only level after that that is realistically beatable
is Level 5. It becomes an almost not hard game w/ infinite lives
and the mega jump on Game Genie until you race that freaking
rat. Good luck on the airplane, unicycle, and especially
the pipe level because they are stressful. Oh yeah, Level 12 is impossible, even with infinite
lives and the mega jump its unbeatable.
