My beautiful granddaughter
It's so hard to believe,
That this day in Heaven,
You will be twenty-three.
Our arms ache to hold you,
We dream of your sweet smile.
Just to hear your voice again,
If only for a little while.
Because your name is Cassandra Lee,
Your dad gave you a nickname.
I don't think you liked it much,
But you were called "li li bird" just the same.
As you grew a little older,
Pops shortened it to "bird".
Our beautiful "bird of paradise"
But Cassie was the name you preferred.
Happy Birthday sweetheart.
You may be twenty-three,
But in our hearts forever,
You'll always be sweet sixteen.
There is no time in Heaven
And no one there grows old.
No sickness, tears or sorrow,
Is what we have been told.
So one day sweet "Li Li Bird"
Our spirits shall meet again.
The day, the time, the hour,
We really don't know when.
But one by one we'll join you,
And Uncle Davey too.
And all our family members
That live in Heaven with you.
Oh what a joyful reunion,
That sweet day will be.
When our family circle reunites,
And God's love reigns eternally.

(When Cassie was little she ate like a bird and since her middle name was Lee
she became "Li Li Bird." Little did we know she would become our beautiful
"bird of Paradise" so young.)
 
A Special Birthday
Please God, make them remember that today is a special birthday.
Make them understand that the memories don't go away.
Bless them with ears to hear and hearts that care.
Enable them to listen while I share.
Shelter them that they may never know my pain.
Help them to help me know that my child's life was not in vain.
Help them to remember, Lord, that I wish my child was here
so we
could still celebrate.
To understand that I still feel the nearness of my child.
To see beyond my smile and the words "I'm OK"

I made this little gift in honor of this beautiful little darling Cassie
who had the face of an angel. I know how terrible the pain is
and it will last a lifetime. I will always remember this little sweetheart
in my prayers along with your most precious son. You are such a lady
of valor and courage and an inspiration to all.
