Did you ever see a shooting star
fly aross a dark night sky?
On a summer's day have you ever watched
the dance of a beautiful butterfly?
These are beautiful to see,
But they have a special meaning for me.
The butterfly symbolizes gentleness and grace.
And in that I see my granddaughter Cassie's face.
The shooting star stands for strength and beauty,
Qualities that Cassie possessed
In her short sixteen years on earth.
Everyone she met was blessed.
It is five years since she left our presence
But with us each moment, is the beauty of her essence.
She never really left us you see,
for in our hearts she'll always be.
All I do is close my eyes,
And see shooting stars and butterflies.
Each reminds me of her beauty and grace,
And magically I see her face.
She smiles and says "I'm still here Gram,
years cannot change God's perfect plan."
We will all be together one day soon,
As we sit upon the edge of the moon,
And we can spend our days in the heavenly skies,
Watching shooting stars and butterflies.
