BACKGROUND: Sera's mother was a priestess of Ares and her father was one of the war god's most trusted warlords. Both parents were extremely loyal to Ares. So loyal, in fact, that they named thier daughter after him (Sera is Ares spelled backwards). On the day she was born Sera's father pledged her life to Ares, vowing that when Sera was old enough she would become a priestess like her mother before her. Though she was born in one of Ares's many temples Sera was not raised there. Her mother died during childbirth and her father, being a warlord, was never around. So, Sera was sent to live with her aunt Beryl who is a powerful sorceress. Beryl taught Sera all she knows about spellcasting. She had also hoped that Sera would stay away from Ares unlike her parents did. But Sera knows about her father's vow to the war god and has always remained very loyal to Ares despite her aunt's wishes. Now that she is old enough she has decided to become a priestess.
