Law Proposal #5: "The Freedom of Speech Act:"
The Freedom of Speech Act:
Whereas the government of Massachusetts has far overstepped its bounds in
regulating the minutia of its citizen's lives,
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1: Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter. 272, Section 36 is
hereby repealed.
Results:
The Libertarian Party decided to file some bills to repeal some of the
more repressive laws in this state. Having worked on this web site for
a while, I had some ideas and forwarded a first draft onto the LP. This
is the final version. Representative Tuttle and Senator Brewer agreed
to file the bills (by request).
UPDATE: 2/22/1999: This has been assigned House Bill # 3888. The history of the bill so far:
- 01/06/99 H Referred to the committee on The Judiciary
- 01/06/99 S Senate concurred
UPDATE: 5/27/99: This bill was heard in committee on 5/25/99 with Doug Krick testifying on behalf of the Libertarian Party of Massachusetts. The chairman asked if Doug would submit written testimony, which is being delivered on 5/27/99.
