Mango fan Django is the longest existing Gypsy Jazz band in Colorado. We have gained international renown through our recordings and performances at major music festivals in Colorado Springs, Crested Butte, Albuquerque, and Whidbey Island near Seattle Washington.
Our Gypsy Jazz sound is an inviting compliment of acoustic guitars, violin, and upright bass creating the mood of 30’s European swing in Paris. We also present the sound of contemporary Gypsy Jazz practitioners using boleros, bossa and other Latin influences as well as American swing and jazz standards.
Locally, (and to name only a few events) we have played before packed-crowds for the Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society, the Black Rose Acoustic Society, and as lobby entertainment during Colorado Springs Philharmonic performances at the Pikes Peak Center.
We were selected by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region to be on the first CD of local artists and have been nominated twice by the Pikes Peak Arts Council as the best local group of the year. We've been voted “Best Jazz Band” by readers of the Colorado Springs Independent for two years in a row.
