Scene 1: Honeymoon Suite
(Michelle is packing for the San Cristobel trip when Danny walks in.)
Danny: Hey. How you doing?
Danny: What's the matter? You worried about the trip?
Michelle: How do you think I'm doing?
Michelle: I'm worried about alot more than Reva. (Really? Wow...)
Danny: Okay. I understand that. I do.
Michelle: I don't know why you couldn't just tell me why the police were here.
Danny: Michelle, it wasn't the right time. You know that. (Well, Danny, apparently she doesn't know that!)
Michelle: Well--Danny, do you not see what this is doing to us?
Danny: I tried to explain it. It was nothing.
Michelle: You didn't try to explain anything! You tried to push it under the rug!
Danny: I wasn't trying to push in under the rug. Can we let this go?! Please.
Michelle: Fine. Fine. You hungry? You want dinner? (What? Is Michelle going to cook? God no!) Coffee, anything like that?
Danny: No, I'm not hungry.
Michelle: My brother called. He keeps trying to want to schedule dinner so we can reconcile and work things out.
Danny: Maybe you should.
Michelle: Well, I don't see why not. I mean, with me out of the way, you'll have plenty of time to do whatever it is you have to do with your mother.
Danny: Will you stop it? Come on, stop it.
Michelle: Stop what? No, I'm--you know what? You want me to sit around and pour coffee while you and your mother go behind closed doors and deal with whatever business dealing you have to do, and leave me out of it. But you know what? That's not what I signed on for! (Michelle exits the room.)
Scene 2: Honeymoon Suite
(Michelle is back in the room.)
Danny: Alright, yeah, I've been keeping things from you, but it's nothing for you to worry about. It's just business. (And she's just your wife, Danny!)
Michelle: No, it's just, you know, nothing I have to be worried with.
Danny: Look, you know that there are times that I have to do things that I don't want to do. I'm not happy about it either, but that's the way it is. You said you understood that.
Michelle: I know. I--
Danny: But you also said that you could live with it. That you could live with who I am and what I do until this family changes.
Michelle: And you said that you weren't going to keep any secrets from me. And when you do, I feel alienated. I feel like I'm not even a part of your life anymore, and that hurts me.
Danny: Okay...I never want that. I don't want to hurt you.
Michelle: So tell me what's going on.
Danny: No, I can't. (Danny...Danny...Danny...tsk tsk...)
Michelle: Danny, is it your mom? I mean did she--
Danny: You know, there are things that I do for this family that are for the entire family, not just my mother!
Michelle: What did she want you to do--what? Want you to kill somebody?
Danny: (He says this very calmly. A bit too calm if you ask me.) There are things I would never do...
Michelle: Then I do not understand. I do not understand why you can't tell me.
Danny: Because I'd rather that you didn't know. If you were questioned, the less you know the better. I'm sorry if you don't like that. That's just the way it is.
Michelle: That is not the way it is.
Danny: Yeah, I'm telling you it is! It's...If you can't live with that then--
Michelle: Then what? If I can't live with it then you can't live with me? Is that what you're trying to tell me?
Danny: No. God, no. No, that's not what--that's now what I meant. It's not.
Michelle: What's happening...with us? What's happening?
Scene 3: Honeymoon Suite
(Michelle is lying on the bed, Danny's leaning on the bed beside her.)
Danny: Michelle, nothing is happening to us. Don't say things like that.
Michelle: I feel like I'm...
Danny: What? Tell me.
Michelle: You know what? This feels like I'm losing you.
Danny: What? That's crazy. You're not losing me. I promise. Hey, I don' want to spend another night like we did last night, sleeping in separate beds. Do you?
Michelle: No, I don't. (Well, duh.)
Danny: I missed you like crazy.
Michelle: I missed you, too.
Danny: You know I love you.
Michelle: I love you so much. (They're kissing. Oooh...someone's going to get laid! I bet I know who!)
Scene 4: Honeymoon Suite
(Danny's laying with his head and and arms resting on the footboard, Michelle's laying next to him. It's obvious that someone got laid during the commercial...and that was a short commercial. Damn, they're quick.)
Michelle: You know, we still have to talk about what started all of this. (You slept in separate beds. Meaning: no one got laid last night. You're not used to that. It led to what just happened. Oh wait...You mean what led to the arguement...ok, forget what I just said.)
Danny: Michelle, I just...I'm just afraid of getting you involved in anything where you could get hurt. I want to protect you. What's wrong with that? (Michelle sighs.) And it's not forever. (Wait, hold up. You don't want to protect her forever? Well, I'm just confused now...) It's just until the family is out of danger.
Michelle: Well, I don't like it. But I can live with it. (Phone rings and Danny answers it and the sheet almost falls but he catches it just in time! Oh well. :) That damn phone is always ringing when they're in bed. Don't they have an answering machine or something???)
Danny: (We only hear Danny's side of the conversation.) Hello? Hey, Josh...Okay...Alright. We'll be there.
Michelle: What's up? What's that about?
Danny: Well, we're leaving tomorrow morning, first thing.
Michelle: So we have all night to ourselves?
Danny: What are we going to do with ourselves?
Michelle: Oh, I just don't know. (They start to kiss, and then Dietz knocks on the door. Michelle lets out a frustrated groan/sigh.)
Danny: Yeah?
Dietz: Your mother wants you and Michelle to join her for dessert. (Yeah, cyanide-laced cupcakes probably!)
Michelle: (To Danny; quietly.) Just...okay.
Danny: Alright, we'll be down in a minute.
Michelle: Okay. Okay. (Starts getting out of bed.)
Danny: Where are you going?
Michelle: I'm going to go and I'm going to go take a shower.
Danny: Okay. (Michelle exits, and Danny reaches under the bed and pulls out their suitcases. He puts the bearer bonds in his suitcase.) This is the last time we're going to do this. The last time.
Scene 5: Outside the door of Casa Santos office/living room
(Danny stands outside the door, holding a pocketwatch that his father gave to him. This speech almost made me cry. Very well done. Paul Anthony Stewart does a great job with this scene.)
Danny: I remember when you gave this to me, Papa. You said I could be whatever I wanted to be. I didn't realise how few choices I'd really have in this family. I wish that you were still alive because I have some questions for you. You know, when you died, Mick and I promised each other we would take care of Mama and Pilar. We both had very different ideas about what that meant. And look where Mick is. Look where you are. I don't know how you did it. I don't know how you balanced your life. How you were such a good father and a husband, and still made all those decisions that you made. How did you make Mama understand and accept what her life would be? And do you know what's become of her and how different she is from when I was little? I don't think you'd want to see her now, or Pilar. You know, I thought that I could get away from this and start a new life with Michelle, but I don't know how to do it. I just keep making promises to her that I know I'm not going to be able to keep. How many lies am I going to have to tell her? Is she going to hate me one day? Or leave me, or worse. Worse. Accept this life and turn into Mama? No, I can't let that happen to her. I won't. I won't.
Scene 6: Honeymoon Suite/Casa Santos Office and/or Living Room Thingy
(I decided to put these next scenes together into one scene because I'm really lazy. It goes back and forth between Michelle talking to Cassie on the phone and Danny talking to his mother.) (Phone rings and Michelle answers it.)
Michelle: Hello?
Cassie: Michelle? It's Cassie.
Michelle: Hey.
Cassie: I need your help.
Michelle: Okay, what's up?
Cassie: It's about the trip you guys are going to take to San Cristobel.
(Cut to Danny and Carmen. Danny walks into the room.)
Danny: Mother.
Carmen: Well, Danny. I was hoping that you and Michelle would join us for dessert. Maybe have some brandy?
Danny: No thanks. I need to talk to you privately. (Carmen walks over to where Danny is standing.) It's about the bonds.
Carmen: What is it that you'd like to know?
Danny: Michelle and I are going to be leaving first thing in the morning. Are you sure that our contacts have been arranged in San Cristobel, because I don't want to be saddled with this stuff.
Carmen: Danny, don't worry. Trust me. (HAH!) You will not get caught. If there was any question in my mind, I wouldn't send them with you. Now is everything packed? Where are the bonds? Are they in the suitcase?
Danny: Yeah. The secret compartments were a very nice touch. Michelle will never notice them. (Yet, you noticed them...)
Carmen: Good. So the both of you are all set to go?
Danny: As ready as we'll ever be.
Carmen: Would you pour me one of those, Danny? (Walks over to Ben.)
Ben: Lovebirds nesting?
Carmen: Not for long.
(Cut to Michelle. She's still on the phone.)
Michelle: I don't know if that's going to work. I'll do everything that I can, definitely. I'll talk to...maybe I shouldn't. (Dietz knocks on the door.) Hold on. Yes, come in.
Dietz: Here for the bags.
Michelle: Right there. (Dietz gets the bags and leaves.) Anyway, I was worried about the trip before, but I really think it's going to work now. I mean, everybody's pulling together, I just--I don't see what could go wrong. (I'll take "Famous Last Words" for $200, Alex!)
Scene 7: Casa Santos Office Thingy
Carmen: What bothers me is that my daughter had to take those bonds out of this house. I never wanted her involved in any of this.
Ben: Was she nervous?
Carmen: Petrified.
Danny: Actually, that's not the problem. She loved the excitement.
Carmen: That's not what I wanted to hear, Danny. (Well, Carmen, you heard it anyways, so get over it!)
Danny: Well, I think you need to straighten her out. I tried, but I don't know what's going on.
Carmen: Don't worry. I will talk to her.
Danny: Good.
(Michelle enters.)
Michelle: Hi.
Danny: Hi Sweetie.
Michelle: How are you?
Danny: You want some cheese? (What??? Add that to the Top 10 Classic Lines of the Century!) You want some dessert?
(Zooms in on Carmen and Dietz.)
Carmen: Is it done?
Dietz: I made the switch. The bonds are in Michelle's bag.
Carmen: Good job.
(Back to Michelle and Danny.)
Michelle: Yeah...Yeah.
Danny: Okay.
Michelle: Well, listen, I'm sorry I'm late for dessert.
Carmen: No, that's quite alright, sweetheart. (Say huh???)
Michelle: Danny and I were just talking, we think we're going to drive out to the lake.
Danny: Right.
Carmen: Well, go. (Well, that was subtle, Carmen.) Enjoy yourselves. Have a great trip tomorrow.
Michelle: I'm sure we will.
Danny: Okay, let's go.
Michelle: Alright. (They walk into the hallway.)
Danny: Hey. I was thinking, when this is all over, and Josh gets Reva back, how about we stay in San Cristobel for a few days and have a second honeymoon? (Already? Well, you guys sure don't waste anytime!)
Michelle: I think that is a great idea.
Danny: Okay. Let's go.
