Citroën
GS cars were also built in Slovenia at Cimos factory in Koper. The country being
under communist regime for many years after WW2 most of the people weren't
wealthy enough to buy DS or ID (see My
DS pages). Even 'small frog' was considered quite a car in seventies
here. They've been fairly popular (my neighbour has sold his ID and bought himself a new GS).
GSs were plentiful
on the roads of Slovenia until the last five years, when they have started
to disappear. They were also No.1 abandoned cars left on parking lots -
and too expensive to maintain properly having less and less resale value.
These days is impossible to get more than 50.000,00 Sit even for a car
in good condition (equivalent of DEM 500.-). I've seen many of them left
in the scrapeyards - waiting for the last journey. The last year
1/10 of Slovenian population purchased new cars, so GSs are becoming less
seen than before...

These are the night shots. Not very clear because of small format and enlargement of the photos. |
Later on the car has been broken in by night visitors, who had stolen 10 music cassetes only. They couldn't pull the very expensive radio out or they didn't need to?... |
