Iva Lindsay......Friday's Child

"...Friday's child is loving and giving"

Iva is my baby girl. Until Andrew was born, we called her "the little boy we never had".

Iva is indeed a tomboy. I empty her pockets while doing laundry and always get a little smile at what I find there. Marbles, rocks, bug wings,(fairy wings she calls them), chewing gum wrappers and potato chips are just a few of the things I have run across. She climbs trees and rides her bike as good as any boy in the neighborhood. She also proudly outruns any of them too.

Iva was a quiet baby. She never cried or fussed and always smiled. She woke in the morning all smiles and went to bed the same way.

She was and still is a ball of never ending energy! She is also a comedienne.

Iva started kindergarten with the best teacher of all times, Helen Jones. Miss Jones would send notes home telling Iva's funny stories. Even the people I work with occasionally ask what Iva is up to.
This is Iva's Homepage she herself designed. (well with a little help from me of course) This page was recently awarded the Flasher2 Children's Award and the Shadow's Cool Kids Site Award!! You can read some of Iva's comedy there. Don't miss it!! ( the page takes a couple of minutes to load, but it's worth it)

Iva is nine years old now. I remember how tough nine is. She is between stages of her life, and it is awkward. She has the option to be a little girl still, but wants badly to " be a BIG girl".

She continues to be a source of boundless energy. Now that summer is here, she will be on the go nonstop! Shortly after breakfast she takes off to the school park on her bicycle. The park is about two blocks away, and all the neighborhood kids meet there from morning till evening. It is an elementary school and all the kids live nearby, and are ages six to twelve. Usually there is a couple of parents there at any given time and it is considered a very safe place for the kids.
Iva usually returns around noon, for lunch, and goes back to the park around four. She plays till six when it's time for dinner. This starts all over the next morning.

She climbs the jungle gyms, swings, runs, flies a kite, plays soccer, dodgeball, softball, and usually has a few bike races before coming home. Needless to say, she sleeps well!

Iva fits the Friday's child description to a T. She will give away anything she has, even if it leaves her with nothing.

I remember once when the school had a book fair, Iva had saved eighteen dollars to buy books. She came home with a few things and I asked where the rest of her money was. She had a classmate who couldn't bring money for the book fair because of money problems at home. Iva had given her ten dollars to spend! Despite that it left her only eight dollars, Iva had given this little girl money to buy books. She gave away more than she kept for herself. I nearly cried, I was so proud. Her generosity is awesome at times. Her daddy says it's because she is a Virgo.
I say it's because she's mine! : )

Iva is smart in school and when she applies herself does very well. I truly feel she will choose a career that keeps her outside as much as possible. I see her digging in ancient relics in some far off country, and dragging home every little chip she finds!

As she continues to grow and change into a young lady, I hope that Iva knows that I am here for her no matter what and that like all my children, she too is a priceless treasure.

Iva loves to play games on the web. Like Bethany, she has asked that I put some of her favorite games here for others to enjoy. I have put them here on the page, to make them easier to access. She, and I hope you like them.

I love you baby girl Iva, with all my heart, Momma.
