Player Bio: Adin Brown

Adin Brown, the Revolution’s starting goalkeeper and one of the top goalkeepers in the league, had an injury plagued start to his career. Before joining MLS, Brown was the starting goalkeeper for the Under 23 U.S. National team that qualified for the 2000 Olympics. Unluckily for him injuries kept him from playing in the Olympics and showing the world what he was capable of. He went to the College of William and Mary and holds every goaltending record there.

The 6’-5”, 200 pound California native, was selected third overall in the 2000 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids and played 13 games behind a poor defense in his rookie season posting a 2.04 goals against average or GAA and a 4-7-1 record. In 2001 he recorded a 1.95GAA and a 2-5-2 record in 9 games with the Rapids before being traded to the struggling Mutiny where he had a 2.50GAA and a 1-11-1 record in 13 games. When the Mutiny was folded in before the 2002 season and Brown was not selected in the MLS Allocation or Dispersal Draft, his future in MLS became unclear.

On January 15th, 2002, Brown was acquired by the Revolution and a new chapter in his MLS career began. An injury prevented Brown from playing in the beginning of the season and he was forced to watch the Revs struggle from the sidelines. When Juergen Sommer, a former Revolution goalkeeper, went down with an injury towards the end of July, Brown had recovered enough to take over the starting spot. Under coach Steve Nicol, Brown was a huge part of the Revs late season turnaround that saw them become possibly the best defensive team in the league. Brown posted a 9-6-1 record, while recording 5 shutouts and a 1.23GAA. In the Revs playoff run to MLS Cup, Brown was the highest rated goalkeeper finishing the postseason with a 0.67GAA an 4 shutouts. Head coach of the U.S. Men's National Team, Bruce Arena, saw Brown’s talent and called him up to camp for the U.S. vs. El Salvador match in November of 2002. Brown was forced to sit out this match because of injury. He has been called up again since then, but has yet to record his first appearance for the National Team. Brown celebrated his 25th birthday May 27th.
