Player Bio: Pat Noonan

Pat Noonan, the 9th pick in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft selected by the Revolution with their first pick, helped lead his college team, the Indiana University Hoosiers, to a 36-0 over their last four seasons of regular play. Noonan, 6’-0” and 170lbs., started in every Hoosier game over the last four years and led them to a national title in 1999 and three college cups. He was named the Big Ten college division player of the year in 2001 and 2002 and was a three-time All American. Noonan was the 14th person in Indiana soccer history to reach 100 points and ranks 7th in goals with 48, 12th in assists with 31, 6th in total points with 127, and second in shots with 324. He was a runner-up for the 2002 Athletic Club Herman Trophy.

The 22 year-old Noonan grew up in St. Louis, Missouri less then ten minutes away from Revolution scoring sensation Taylor Twellman. Noonan and Twellman grew up as close friends and they often spent the day in Twellman’s backyard playing 5 on 5 pick-up games. They both played on the popular Scott Gallagher Soccer Club together as forwards for two years.

Noonan currently is tied for the league lead in assists with 3 while only seeing time as a substitute and is a front-runner for MLS Rookie of the Year. He had been coming on as sub in the midfield until Saturday, May 24th’s match against Columbus where he came on as a forward for Wolde Harris. The 66th minute substitution immediately paid off as he assisted on a Brian Kamler goal and Twellman’s game winning goal. He was named to the MLS Team of Week for his performance against the Crew. Noonan, who is currently fighting with Harris for a starting spot alongside Twellman since Joe-Max Moore is injured, may see more playing time when Twellman leaves with the U.S. National Team for the Confederations Cup in France on June 18th-29th.
