-Waiting For Tonight, J-Lo

Chapter 11

For the first time all weekend, the lobby was quiet and almost empty except for the scattered bits of BSB crew, band and dancers.  RoRo scooted up to us, looking with starry eyes at his beloved Nikki with Brent in tow.  I didn’t see Nick in the lobby so I made my way non-chalantly toward the lounge.  I didn’t want to seem as excited as I really was.  I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen tonight, especially from the ravenous looks Nick kept giving me from the stage all evening.  I somehow didn’t think it was just friendship he had in mind.  And to be honest with myself, that wasn’t what I was looking for either.  I wanted HIM, every inch and part of him, good and bad.  I just wanted HIM.

When I got to the door, there stood the large, greying Billy Evans, with a scowl on his face.  My heart pounded.  I could not think of a person who I found more intimidating. I pretended not to notice him and scooted by.  I did not make it far as a humongous hand gripped my upper arm roughly.

“Private Party in here.” he barked.

“I know,” I replied, my voice shaking.  “I’m meeting someone here.”

“Girl, you must be hard of hearing,” Billy was getting angry, “I said this is a PRIVATE party.  That means I don’t care if you’re meeting the Dali Lama, you can’t be in here.”  My face burned with anger.  Mine and Nick’s “friendship” was not going to be easy if Billy kept treating me this way.  I scurried a look across the lounge and saw no signs of the tall blond physique.  But a familiar drawl came up from behind me.

“You Kelly?” Brian Littrell was now standing to my right.  He was the same height as me so looked directly into my eyes.  His were so blue and bright and friendly that I felt somehow better already.

“Yes.” I said with my still nervous voice.  I didn’t think I’d ever get used to Billy. He made me so angry.

“Nick told me to tell you he’ll be down in 15 minutes...he’s on an important phone call.  Until then, I’m to buy you a drink.”  Brian put out his arm for me to take, like a suitor at a ball.  I took it, still looking warily at Billy.  “She’s fine, Bill.”  Brian said to him, “A friend of Nick’s.”  Billy just sniffed and turned, still giving me a stern stare.  With that, though, we made our way to a booth and sat down.

“What would you like, Miss Kelly?” Brian asked me when we sat at the dimly lit table.

“A Corona sounds good.”  I answered.  I knew instantly that Brian would be an important ally.  He motioned to a server and asked for 2 coronas.

“My type of woman...likes beer.”  He grinned goofily.  “Nick told me ALL about you.”

“Oh really?  Funny...I was under the impression that even Nick did not know ALL about me.”  I answered.

“Touche” he countered, “But he seems to think highly of you despite your short aquaintance.  And, well, any friend of Nick’s is a friend of mine.”

I felt a hand on the back of my neck and turned to find AJ, Nikki, RoRo and Brent standing near our table.  “Who’s up for a game of pool?”  He moved his fingers in a massage like motion around my neck.  I was terrible at pool, but was definitely interested in playing with AJ.    “I am, baby.” I volunteered.

“Are you good?” AJ looked at me above his shades.  His goattee was shaved perfectly, but he looked pale and feverish.

“Not really.” I sipped my Corona.

“Then you’re on B-Rok’s team.” he said quickly and grabbed Nikki’s hand. “Come on, Craps.” AJ cracked up at his new nickname for her, “Tonight you’re MY luck.”

Nikki sighed silently, she couldn’t believe he had called her that in front of Brian. She was also disappointed that SHE wasn’t on Brian’s team.  She had almost fainted when he had sauntered through the lobby to the lounge...she’d had no idea he would be down tonight.  Nikki had quickly convinced AJ to escort her in for a drink.  No one had introduced her yet, and that was bothering her.  Normally, I would have done so, but I was off in my own world, calculating the exact moment when Nick would appear. Nikki understood, but her heart sank as Brian grabbed my hand.

“Don’t worry, Shorty!” I looked at him oddly, with my eyebrows raised, at this term of endearment that I would forever be known as to Brian.  He was the same height as me, so I was confused.  He never did explain, it was just like Brian.  “We’re gonna kick their butts.”  I loved the way he drawled the word “butts”.  Brian’s manner made me chuckle.  I knew that this would be fun.

“C’Mon, C’Mon, C’Mon, C’Mon, C’Mon!” Brian almost willed the red ball into the corner pocket.  “YEAH!” he yelled as he gave me a high five.  I actually wasn’t having that bad of a game, at least for me.  We were losing, but Brian was a supportive partner and at least we weren’t behind by far.

AJ coughed, “Ah man, you SAID you were bad.  You LIED.  You’re a LIAR!”

“It’s gotta be beginners luck, AJ, I swear!”  I explained as I sipped my Corona.  I called the next ball and pocket and missed.  AJ stuck out his tongue and blew raspberries at me.

“Hey man, keep those nasty germs to yourself!”  Brian said as he backed away from AJ.  AJ called the eight ball and popped it in the pocket with no problem.

“Whoo-hoo!” he yelped and ran over to Nikki, lifting her into the air.  “Alright Craps!  You ARE my good luck charm!”  Nikki blushed but laughed at the spectacle they must have been.

“Next time, man.  Next time.”  Brian’s southern accent piped up.  The four of us sat back down at the table and ordered more to drink.

Howie didn’t have to do much explaining.  Angie really didn’t want to hear about Claudia, nor did she care at that point.  She had come here for one reason, and that reason was standing before her breathing heavily.  She could care less about the existence of Claudia.

Howie’s dark, expressive eyes probed her so that shivers reverberated over her entire body.  He walked up to her and ran his hands down the front of her chest.  He could see exactly what she wanted by just looking at her.  His hands were warm and burned through Angie’s blouse.  His lips came close and were soon on Angie’s neck, little nibbles that were delicate and moist, sliding over her sensitive and aware skin.

“Yes.” she said in a breathless whisper.

“Mmm” Howie moaned.  His hands began sliding beneath her blouse and Angie began sliding into her own personal ecstasy as all of her clothes were removed and she felt Howie all over her.see exactly what she wanted by just looking at her.  His hands were warm and burned through Angie’s blouse.  His lips came close and were soon on Angie’s neck, little nibbles that were delicate and moist, sliding over her sensitive and aware skin.
