Maybe its intuition
Some things you just don’t question
Like in your eyes I see my future in an instant
And there it goes.
I think I found my best friend.
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy but I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life
There’s just no rhyme or reason
Only this sense of completion
and in your eyes I see the missing pieces
I’m searching for.
I think I’ve found my way home
A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I’ve found you

Chapter 2
As the bus jolted to a stop I awakened instantly. My stomach was
tight with
nerves and excitement. I looked next to me at Nikki. She slept like the
dead. People
stood and stretched and gathered their belongings. I hit Nikki’s leg firmly
with the palm
of my hand.
“Hey Nik, wake up. We’re here.” She didn’t respond and I tapped
her again. I
was used to this. “Hey, there’s AJ.” Nikki turned her head and looked at
me through half
opened eyelids.
“You’re not funny.” she slurred.
“Let’s blow this popcorn stand.” I said looking at my best friend.
She grinned and
we both stood up.
*******
“BOOMSHIEKA!!!” I yelled as I saw my friend standing at the bus
station in
Cleveland waiting.
“GIZMO!” she replied and hugged me. It was hard living so far apart
from
Angie. But when we saw each other, I felt all the important days we had spent
together,
and all the altering moments we had shared. Seeing Angie was almost like
coming home.
She grabbed onto Nikki as well and the three of us hugged. We walked toward
Angie’s
car chatting idolly, threw in our bags, and got ready for the next leg of our
journey to
Detroit.
“To Detroit, Howie!” piped Angie as she started the engine. Howie
was the loving
name of Angie’s little red auto. We all giggled as the car pulled out of the
garage.
*******
“This must be it,” yawned Nikki as we pulled in front of the *Hotel
in
*Michigan. We all sighed as we looked at it. It was like a palace.
“I hope this is where they’re staying,” Angie added.
“It’s it. I’m sure.” replied Nikki with her famous optimism. I just
sat there and
prayed. God...where is his bus? We looked at the digital car clock in
Howie. It said
2:00. “Check in isn’t til 3:00, but let’s go see if they have anything
available” said Nikki.
She had taken control of the Hotel plans.
The three of us exited the car and stepped into the lobby of the hotel.
It was like
no place I had ever stayed. My family had always been more of the Motel 6
type. Nikki
walked up to the desk, “I have reservations for Peltz,” she spoke
courteously.
“Yes, Ms. Peltz?” the concierge answered. “We actually have your
room available
presently if you would like to check in?” We all shook our heads in the yes
motion.
*******
“SWEET!” yelled Angie as she checked out the club room. “SWEET,
SWEET,
SWEET! I could get used to this!” I laughed at her as I was thinking the
same. The suite
was divided into four rooms: living room, kitchenette, and two bedrooms.
“Damn,” I said as I checked out the kitchenette. “Check this place
out!”
“Now all we need is a little bit of BSB...” added Nikki.
“Let’s get unpacked and go scout the place out.” I said as I grabbed
my large
Tommy Hilfiger duffel.
*******
We walked into the hall and headed toward the elevator a half hour
later. I
pressed the button. Butterflies again. My heart pounded.
“So are you gonna ask him about the flowers?” Nikki questioned
Angie.
“Hell yeah. If I get up the guts.” she answered.
The elevator pinged and the doors opened. My heart exploded, but we
stepped
into an empty machine. God...what is with me?
“Well, just drink a little bacardi before hand...that’ll cure the
lack of guts.” Nikki
said to Angie as she pressed the button for the lobby. We were heading down
there to
scope the hotel out and see where we may be able to catch the guys as they
came in. In an
instant the elevator stopped at the next floor and the doors opened. There
stood a large
black man with grey hair. I recognized Billy instantly.
“Hold the elevator for one second, please.” the head of the
Backstreet Boy’s
security said. My stomach was all over the place now and I could feel myself
getting
queazy. Billy was also Nick’s bodyguard. I began to pray and coach myself
keep cool
keep cool keep cool. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes as I felt Billy
step on
followed by three other people. I opened them up and knew he was standing
right next to
me. I could feel him like static. Like electric. I could feel myself
flush, the heat rushing
all over my body. It was amazing that he could do this to me in an instant.
The door
closed and Billy’s booming voice commanded, “Lobby, please.” I pressed the
button with
a shaky finger. And then suddenly, something like courage, or this is your
only chance, or
just common sense hit me and as my finger made contact with the already lit
lobby button,
I stopped shaking and a wave of calm filled me.
It was eerily quiet at first. We had 15 floors to go. Go. My
conscience told me. I
didn’t want to look at him, that would throw me off. So I looked at my
friends.
“It’s too bad we’re not staying at that other hotel.” my voice came
out amazingly
even, almost jovially. “I would have liked those cookies and milk at
bedtime.” The others
laughed hesitantly. There was a short pause.
“I told you guys that there was a hotel where we got cookies and
milk.” His voice
bounced off the sides of the elevator. It was like an echo. Like a piercing
siren in a quiet
night. He was looking to the back towards his bodyguard. Billy just
shrugged his
shoulders. Then I felt his eyes over my shoulder. “What hotel IS that that
gives you
cookies and milk before bed?”
I glanced up at him and our eyes met in an instant. They danced in a
smile as soon
as we connected. It was beautiful. When we had stepped onto the elevator he
had had an
air of exhaustion and maybe even sorrow, but as he stood there looking into
my eyes, I
saw none of that. Mine smiled back, almost the same way it had happened the
year before
in New York. But this time, I wasn’t tongue tied.
“It’s near here...well...actually in Auburn Hills...where the venue
is...the Hilton?” I
answered him, still smiling. Once again, my voice was surprisingly steady.
His 6’2” frame
looked down onto me. His face was sweet like an angel’s. A sound like,
“hmm” came
from his full pursed lips. “It’s too bad they don’t have it here,” I
continued on. “Cause,
say I had just performed a two and a half hour show...singing and
dancing...one thing I’d
love to have afterwards, to calm my nerves, is some chocolate chip cookies
and milk.”
His smile became even wider and some pearly white teeth crept to the surface.
“See...I’D like those cookies if I were IN a crowd. You know?
Jumpin’ up and
down and screamin’ and faintin’ can make a person CRAVE cookies and milk
before
bedtime...” There was a twinkle in his eye as he spoke to me. The girls to
my right
giggled lightly as did Nick’s father to his rear. I flashed my very best
grin at him.
“It’s too bad...” I commented once more while still beaming. The
elevator thud at
the bottom floor at the same instant my heard thud in my chest. The doors
opened as our
eyes remained locked.
“You have a beautiful smile.” Nick said very lightly, almost shyly,
while looking at
me. I was speechless for an instant, not believing what he had said. Can
this be
happening? My cheeks turned crimson as I whispered, “you too.” Nick turned
to his
group, made a motion and stepped out. The three of us followed, us standing
in the lobby
and him exiting the hotel.
