Chapter 4

Angie woke up and looked around fixing her eyes on the clock, 9:43. She stretched, got up and wandered downstairs. The rose petals were still strewn on the floor and there was no sign of Nick anywhere. She initially got worried, but it quickly turned to anger. All this work for nothing.

"Where the hell is he !!!" she yelled out loud "That Bastard !!!!!!!!!". And with that, she ran upstairs threw on a pair of jeans and a shirt and bolted out the door.

THUMP, THUMP, THUMPI poked my head up from the bed and looked at the clock, "What the." I looked at Kevin who was still sleeping and could feel his deep breathing on my neck. THUMP, THUMP ! 'Oh God, I'd better get up before they knock the door down' I thought to myself. Kevin's legs were intertwined around my own, and he had one arm under my body and the other strewn on my waist. 'I'll never get out of this without waking him up' I thought, analyzing our tangled limbs. But slowly, I slid out from under his grasp, and though he stirred just a bit he seemed undisturbed. THUMP, THUMP, THUMP ! "Sheesh, I'm coming" I whispered out loud, looking for a shirt or something. His button down was on the floor next to the bed, "I guess this will have to do". And as I pulled his shirt around me, he slowly turned to look at me "Hey" he said softly and slowly "where are you goingand with my clothes ?" "I'll be right back, baby" I smiled and sat on the edge of the bed. "But I don't want you to go" he pouted and put his arms around my waist. "Don't go yet". "I'm just gonna answer the door. I'll be right back" I said softly. "Ok, but don't take too long. I'll miss you" he said sleepily as he pulled me down and gently kissed my lips. THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP ! We pulled apart and smiled "That sounds like a desperate knock" he chuckled. "Yeah, I better answer itbe right back". 'Who is it ?" I asked as I approached the door. "It's me, Cloud". I opened the door just a bit "Cloudwhat's up hun ? Heather is not back til tomorrowand don't you have your key ?" "I know Ran, I forgotso shoot me but I need to talk". She stormed past me and I could tell she was really upset about something, "Uh-oh, what did he do this time ?" "He didn't come home last night, Ran. Can you believe that ?" she paused then continued, "We had an argument last night, over some stupid thing, and he just left ! He told me he was going out and just left...Wait a minute", she eyed me up and down, "Oh-ho-ho, either you got busy last night or you are making a new statement in sleepwear !" she laughed. "Ok, ok. Very funny, Cloud" I muttered. "I'm sorry, Ran but I gotta ask anybody I know ? Is he still here ?" she smiled broadly. "NO" I quickly answered "nobody you would know, busy-body ! And yes, he's still here, so if you could speed this up a bit". "Alright" she replied, a bit disappointed "I'll get out of your way". She headed toward the door, "but what do I do about Nick ?" "Take it easy, hun. If you guys had a fight last night, he was probably just pissed and stayed with one of the guys. I'm sure he'll show up any minute now". "Yeah, I guess.Ok" she sulked "sorry for the interruption. And thanks, Ran !" I closed the door behind her, sighed and smiled at the thought of Kevin as I headed back to the bedroom. Angie felt better as she left Miranda's place. She lived there with Ran and Heather until Nick had gotten back from their tour and she was at his place all the time. It may not have been official, but for all practical purposes they did live together. She was so distracted by her thoughts that as she pulled out of the parking lot, she didn't even notice Kevin's black 4Runner parked next to her.

"Hey loverboy, still awake ?" I said seductively as I slowly removed his shirt I had on. He stared at my naked body, "mmmmmmm..oh, yeah." He nodded " Get over here !" He pulled me under the covers with him and slipped his arm around me "who was it ?" he asked. "Oh, just Cloud. You know, Angie, she had another fight with Nick and he didn't go home last night.." I said softly with his face very close to mine. "Really ?" he asked without any real interest. He was focused on my lips and his hand slowly caressed my lower back. "Yeah, really", I smiled, knowing what he had I mind. "You know we don't have to be at rehearsal until noon" he drawled. "I know" I answered, an evil smile on my face, "get ready for round two..ding, ding".

Chapter 5

Her anger subsided a bit as Angie drove up the street and saw Nick's truck parked in the driveway. "Nice of you to drop by" she sarcastically mumbled to herself. He was about to get in the shower as she stormed into the bathroom, "And where the hell were you last night ?" Angie yelled. "What.?" He answered, surprised and completely naked. He had expected this. After he and Faith stuffed their faces last night, they laid down in her bed to watch tv and fell asleep. This morning at 10:00am, he awoke to find her head comfortably buried in his neck, and his arms wrapped tight around her middle. It felt so nice that he had just laid there, awake, hearing her breathe deeply for almost an hour. He hadn't been in a hurry to leave, he knew a fight was waiting for him when he got home. "I fell asleep at a friend's house, ok ?" he explained, no longer mad at her, but worried about the look on her face. "I can't believe you, why didn't you at least call me ?" she asked beginning to calm down a bit. "I.fell..asleep." he said slowly and with a sarcastic undertone. "Believe me, Cloud if I would have stayed awake, I would have come home to you. I'm sorry." He had seen the rose petals and candles and knew she had been expecting him last night, it made him feel kind of guilty. "I did all this stuff for you." She trailed off and pouted pointing to the bedroom "and you didn't even come home.". He looked at her and felt awful. Why did she have to be so bitchy sometimes ? He walked over to her and cradled her face in his hands, "I am so sorry, baby" he apologized. "It's ok, I guess. I was kinda out of line yesterday" she calmly said as she stared at her feet. But her eyes shifted to his naked body as she saw him beginning to get aroused. "Nick !" she laughed. "What." He said smiling as he pulled her face up to kiss her. "Ummm, nothingforget it" she surrendered and was lost in his kiss. His hands moved quickly over her as he began to rip clothing from her body. Chapter 6

When I arrived at the dance studio, everybody but Nick was already there. Kevin had left my apartment only half an hour ago, but he had showered and managed to get there on time. The epitome of responsibility, as always. "Ok, so who's missing ?" Fatima asked loudly so everybody could hear her. "Guess" AJ said with an annoyed look in his eyes "you know if he's gonna be late everyday I'm not gonna bother to wake up early either". "Early ? What are you talkin' about Bone ?" Brian laughed, "It's after noon." "You know what I mean" AJ mumbled and sat on the floor with his hat pulled down over his eyes "I'm takin' a napwake me up when Mr. Punctuality gets here". "Woohoorough night, AJ ?" Howie teased. "Yeah Bone, did Daisy keep you up last night ?" Brian asked in a low voice so the rest of us couldn't hear. "Don't go there, Rok, ok ? Just don't go there." AJ was very defensive about his relationship with Daisy, who was one of the dancers. They had been seeing each other for three months, but he seldom talked about her with any of the guys, and that was not like him at all. "Well, I doubt it was more interesting that Kevin's night." Brian smiled looking over to his cousin. "I don't know what you're talkin' about." Kevin answered non-chalantly. "Oh really ?" Brian mused "Date vampires much ?". Kevin hadn't noticed in his rush to be on time, but his black tank top revealed a faint hickey at the base of his neck. He walked over to the mirror "Ah shit." He uttered under his breath as he studied the result of a phenomenal night. "Wo-ho-ho !!!!" remarked AJ, now wide awake "I guess Kev's got himself a wild one." He laughed out loud. "Yeah Kev, wanna tell us about it ?" Brian continued to taunt him. They all looked at him with interest. "Alright, alright you guys have your fun, but I'm not telling you a damn thing !" he said with a slight smile on his face and walked away, leaving them laughing behind him.

As I walked in, I said hello to each of the guys and set my stuff down to warm up. All of us had grown really close during the European tour, and we felt like family. However, there was an uncomfortable tension between me and Kevin that hadn't been there before and I hoped it wouldn't last long. "Hey, Randa. What's up, chica ? You've been lost. Why haven't you called me ?" Daisy asked with her usual ear to ear smile. "I thought you would be too busy with AJ to answer the phone." I joked. "Oh girl, don't you play me like that. You KNOW I always have time for my friends." "I know" I said. "guess I've just been busy myself." I smiled back. "Ooooo, with anyone I know ?" she raised her eyebrows. "Maybe," I said matter-of-factly, "but I ain't tellin'". "Oh ok, it's like that, huh ? I'll remember that." She nodded as she smiled. I knew she understood, and she knew I would tell her all about my mystery man when I was good and ready. That's why Daisy and I had become such good friends, we never pushed each other, yet wound up telling each other everything anyway. Just then Nick walked in. The entire room started clapping and howling. It had become a sort of running gag at rehearsals to do that to the last person to get there. He flashed a huge smile and walked over to set his backpack down by the wall. "Nice of you to show up, Nicky" Howie chuckled "AJ's had a nice nap thanks to you". "Sorry guys" Nick apologized "Angie kept me longer than I expected". "Uh-huh" smiled Brian, "I bet". He patted his friend on the back and got up. "OK, LET'S GO EVERYBODY." Fatima yelled "We've got a lot of work to do". The MTV awards were less than two weeks away, and the choreography was complicated. "Let's see this two couples at a time..um, Kevin and Daisy and.Miranda, you with AJ. From the second verse". We got up and got into position. I loved dancing with AJ, we just moved so well together. Since the choreography to 'Show Me the Meaning' was close and sultry, our bodies sort of melded and we moved sensually in unison. I caught Kevin looking at me while he danced with Daisy. Odd, I thought.we should really switch partners and then sensual sparks would really fly. A soft smile came across my lips as I thought of dancing like this with Kevin.ooooo, too tempting.better stop thinking so much. "Ok, next up.same routine Kelly with Nick, Howie with Jaime and Lauren with Brian.let's go." Nick seemed to be having a bit of trouble letting loose. This song called for slow, fluid movements and he was just way too stiff. "Ok, hold up. Kelly, take a break a minute. Randa, get in here hun. See if you can loosen this boy up." Fatima said pointing to Nick.

My latin roots seem to come out in my dancing and I loved getting into the steps and the music which made me maybe not the best dancer in the room, but definitely the most passionate. Nick smiled as I walked over to him "Ready for me." I flirted. "Bring it on Rand" he played along. It took several tries to get him to move well enough so that Fatima was satisfied. I tried to loosen him up as well as I could, and would tease him "Pretend I'm Cloud and you're really turned on, you're not that stiff when you're with her, are you ?" "Oh, you wouldn't believe how stiff I am when I'm turned on" He would smile broadly and laugh. As we danced, Kevin eyed my every move. AJ leaned over to him and said "Damn, if her body moves like that when she's dancin', I can imagine what it could do on top of mine. SHIT !" Kevin didn't answer, he just kept his eyes on my swaying body and nodded slowly. We weren't sure how we were going to handle our situation yet, but we had agreed to keep it under wraps for now so he preferred not to talk rather than risk saying too much. Rehearsals didn't run too long. Everyone tired quickly as a result of three months of rest, and around dinner time, Fatima decided it was useless to continue for today. "Ok, peoplesee you here tomorrow at 9 am.". There were groans heard from all corners of the room. "9 am ? Damn ! Fatima wants to kill me, doesn't she" AJ mumbled. "Aw, don't worry Bone" Brian laughed "Nick won't make it here before 11 anyway.you'll have time enough to take a nap". "I will not be late tomorrow" Nick responded, with a slight whine to his tone. Everyone laughed, "I WON'T" he insisted. "Whatever" Howie laughed as they walked away.
