A Friend Lost

You absorbed all their rumors
You took in all their lies
You retained all their hate
Now it’s me you despise
Why can’t you remember
The things we’ve been through
The good times, the bad times
You leaned on me I leaned on you
Now you’re gone an empty hole
Where I once had a friend
Since older passions sought you out
And I refused to bend
I stayed as I was content and happy
At least I thought I was
But then I found it all a sham
The reason being because
I miss you
The old you
And when you look back
At thirty-three
Will you remember little me?
