Strange Dreams?

The strangest experience of my life has to be the day that I crossed over. I don't know if it was a dream or what they call a waking experience, but what ever it was it was extremely intense. It only happened for a second. I was lying in bed. The pale green light from my alarm clock was basking the room in its ethereal glow. I was thinking of a girl who did not exist. That is because she lived in one of my short stories. So I lie there thinking. The form of her face, the smoothness of her walk, what she was like, how she interacted with other people, etc. Then I decided to give her a voice. I knew her eyes were violet and her hair was black and her skin was a pale brown but a voice would not fit. I thought deeper and he voice called out to ME. And the first words I could think of for her to say were,

"Hello," she spoke. I was lost somewhere inside my brain. There she was exactly as I imagined her. We were on a terrace overlooking the city of Paris, France. To my left were two glass doors that led to a beautiful ballroom filled with dancing couples. She extended her hand and in a Parisian accented voice said,

"Would you care to dance with me?"

As soon as we touched I was transported back to my bed and the haunting glow of the room. My heart was racing.

What was it? I haven't the slightest clue. Alternate universe? Dream state? Waking dream? Unknown? I have tried to recreate that experience but have had no success. Whether it is loss of control or just plain fear. It was truly strange and it makes you wonder what secrets that our brains hold and keep from us.
