![]() Stress or Stupidity?? I’m not sure if I’m over tired or stressed, but I took the wrong turn on my way to my adult ed class tonight. What’s with that???? I’ve been travelling to this town for nine years! Same road every day. Tonight I took a turn way before I should have. I was a good quarter mile down the wrong road before I realized that I had screwed up. I have no idea where my head was, but it sure wasn’t thinking about driving! Fortunately, I knew where I was and just cut over a couple of different roads to reach my destination. But still….that is kind of scary. I know there are times when I’ve been driving on automatic pilot and suddenly realize that I have no idea how I’ve gotten to where I am. But at least I’m on the right road.
![]() The last class was uneventful and I spent the time teaching them to surf the internet. It boggles the mind to think that people need lessons on how to do that. I even had to show them how to type in a URL. Just amazing. I think they all had fun though. All it took was showing them a couple search engines, how to get driving maps and how to send cyber cards and they were all set to play. Of course, three of them couldn’t figure out how to send the cyber cards. They couldn’t figure out the directions. Just amazing
![]() ![]() I am quite glad that the class is finished. I’m dang tired. Today was crazier than most Tuesdays. I didn’t leave school until four thirty because one of the teachers corralled me and I tried to spend some time smoothing her feathers. This is the teacher who has my four little puppies and doesn’t like it very much. I think that the true problem is emerging here, though. It boils down to that she doesn’t think the aide is doing what she should and has a tendency to escalate situations that shouldn’t be given that much attention. I don’t really have much control over that, unfortunately. This aide is supposed to be a certified teacher, but I really doubt that she could handle a classroom on her own. I have to assume that she is a person who is capable of handling four kids and who can have some self-direction. I guess I’m working under false assumptions, though. I may have to bring this to the principal. I think it’s out of my jurisdiction.
![]() ![]() ![]() I then had to fly to the vet to get new medication for the cat. We are now trying a different food and prednesone. Obviously the flagil didn’t work. We’re still having bowel troubles. I’m really hoping this new treatment works. I’m sick of cleaning the rugs. Once I got the new food and medicine I zipped home to feed the cat, then turned around immediately to head back to school. I stopped at McDonald’s for a Happy Meal, and at Starbucks for a hi-test white chocolate mocha. How’s that for a nourishing meal?
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I have that potentially ugly parent meeting to look forward to at seven thirty in the morning. Wahoo.

When you speak of a friend's face as their "mug" you're making use of a relatively new word. Beer mugs of the late 18th century were often shaped to represent human heads. Some depicted famous persons, others were caricatures of ordinary heads. A person not especially noted for classical beauty often bore a more than superficial resemblance to a face on one of these mugs. As an aftermath of humor in the pottery shop, every face came to be called a mug. And the term is still with us today. Cool word:aborigine [n. ab-uh-RIJ-uh-nee] An aborigine is someone who belongs to a tribe or race that was the earliest known to inhabit a certain area. Those most often thought of as aborigines are Australians, but there are also American, African, and Japanese aborigines, and many others all around the world. This word's origin involved "folk etymology," in which a word evolves to match an incorrect understanding of its origin. In this case, there was a tribe that inhabited some areas of Italy before the Roman civilization appeared. The tribe's name sounded similar to a Latin phrase, "ab origines" (from the beginning). Since the tribe had been there "from the beginning," or at least since before the Romans arrived, they became known by the Romans as the Aborigine. Today, aborigines in general are any people who have been present in an area since prehistoric times.
