Wishing Upon A Star

February 26
aw, gee….

It’s Saturday. That means vacation is over. I am bemoaning that fact in a big way.

The moans will be even louder tomorrow.

I’m just not ready to go back to work. I haven’t even opened up the tote bag to find out what I should have done to prepare for the week either.

I drove through the pouring rain to my stamp store today, spent too much money, and lots of time wandering and looking. The stock was really depleted today, so I didn’t do as much damage as I might have if the shelves had been fuller.

I splurged on a catalogue. It is a work of art. It’s from a company called "Paper Parachute". Their stamps are magnificent, but the cover of the catalogue is just amazing.

I think I may tear it apart and frame it.

Dee and I went out to dinner, but that was nothing special. We just both needed to get out of our houses.

So we ate fajitas and gossiped and went home.

How dull is that?

I spent the rest of the evening putting stuff away – yes I’m still cleaning – and surfing the web.

Dspeaking of surfing, a paper artist on one of my e-mail lists mentioned this site, so I decided to go and check it out.

It was sort of fun. I chose the city street as my view, jazz music inside the room, 15 photos on the wall, a tall domeheaded, swing trash can in fashion colors and a friendly, bright and colorful clock.

This is what it all means:

The Room

At last you have made your personal selection of all the items in your room. The time has come for us to reveal how your wants and desires (your choices) reflect the person that you are, or will be in the future.

The Room is your personal world. The window represents your attitude or outlook on life. The music is your lover, or woeful lack thereof. The pictures are your friends and family, sparse or numerous as you have specified. The garbage can holds your life's problems. And the clock, your future, ticking inexorably away. Your Room...

The Window: Your Attitude

Your choice of the "main street" window reveals a personality with a preference for an urban lifestyle. You may be described as directed, solid, concrete, busy, utilitarian, serviceable, full of life, gritty with a taste for asphalt and easy shopping. You seem to attract a crowd who is very fast, often polluted, gaseous and acquisitive.

I’m not sure the part about the crowds I attract is accurate…

The Music: Your Lover

Off beat syncopation may not be the most recognized form of passion, but it reflects a certain sophistication that put you and your special friend on a plane that is airy, light and just slightly over the edge. You both enjoy the finer things in life and will continue in your search for new experiences - together.

Now if only I had one…

The Pictures: Your Relationships

Revealing a dramatic person who revels in the attention of a wide circle of acquaintances. This seemingly attractive trait presents a challenge as friends are pushed out on the stage of life, standing exposed with unexpected juxtapositions ready to elicit laughter or recognition. May also be used as a protective shield between relationships, e.g. room divider.

OK, I might be able to relate to this one…

The Garbage: Your Problems

Your problems are unique to such a good-looking individual. Beneath that metallic exterior you hide all traces of difficulties. You are the essence of cool when you are empty, but the truth of your travails is sometimes smeared on your smiling face much to your humiliation. Others jealous of your style may call you dome-headed, but you know you swing in full fashion colors.

Good looking individual??? Huh?

The Clock: Your Future

Your future is in plastics. Like the character (Dustin Hoffman) from The Graduate, you recognized early on the importance of plastic to maintaining a beautiful, hard body glowing with good health. Your face is a reflection of your quirky energy and ability to conceive new ideas with innovative flair. You have a long life ahead of you, which is well warranted for one who radiates such happiness.

I like the quirky and innovative part….

Hey, it was a diversion…..

Trivia:Which U.S. library has the most books?

The honor of having the most tomes goes to the United States Library of Congress, which weighs in at a whopping 24 million books. Next up, but far behind, is the library at Harvard University with a relatively paltry 13.6 million books. Lagging even further is the New York Public Library, with a measly 11.4 million. Hopefully, a few of them are actually worth reading while in the bathroom.

Cool word:erstwhile (URST-hwile) - Former; of or pertaining to a long-past time. "Melvin, a Boston Red Sox fan, could only dream of what might have been had their erstwhile star Babe Ruth not been sold to their archrivals, the new York Yankees."

skulk (skulk) - To move about furtively or quietly. "After his lackluster performance review, Ezra skulked about the office, a cloud of shame hanging over his head."

Horoscope

Aries

While you may be longing to make new allies at work, trying too hard will be to your disadvantage. You will be far better off if you focus on the tasks at hand and leave your socializing until after office hours. You may be feeling like you can't finish all that's currently on your plate. If you keep pushing yourself so hard, you're likely to reach that burnout point fairly early. So don't be so hard on yourself! You are actually accomplishing far more than you realize. Other issues will revolve around family and money. Don't let a domestic dispute remain unresolved. It's definitely worth it to take the time out of your busy schedule to sort out these problems before they become more complicated.
