Nothing Happening
Nothing has happened today that’s worth writing about so this will be short.
I had planned to stay in and do school work, or maybe some stamping, but I ended up having to go to a Shiva. The father of one of the chorus members passed away, and I felt it was important to go. I hate all those kinds of things, wakes, Shivas, as I don’t ever know what to say. The thing is that I always feel as if I should go as I would want my friends to come to support me if anything like that happened in my life.
I have to think that what you say matters less than the fact that you make an effort to go.
I did meet a person there that made me think of what a small world it really is. This woman was telling us that she planned to come to our competition this year as she is now living closer to where the competition is being held. I asked where she lived, and she said, "Oh the Northampton area." I told her that I had taught at Northampton High for ten years, and she said’ Oh that’s where I subbed on Friday, but I worked with the special needs kids."
Egads! That would have been my job!
Isn’t that just the most amazing thing? It also turned out that her grandmother in law was someone that I knew well when I lived out there.
Everything is connected.
I spent the rest of the day working on the reading program and planning for the wee. I didn’t even manage to get out the stamping stuff. I’m too panicked about this reading thing.
Observation and seminar are Thursday. I hope she tells me then if she plans to flunk me, because if that’s the case I’ll stop now!
