Why do I bother?
Tonight’s rehearsal was an exercise in frustration. The director can’t remember from one minute to the next what she has asked us to do, and is so inconsistent in her direction that I just want to leap off of the risers and throttle her.
I’m really at the point where I don’t know why I continue to bother. I so desperately want to be in a winning chorus again and I don’t think we’re anywhere near being able to do that.
The moral is so low (and I am probably one of the more upbeat people in the group), and the unity is non-existent. I just want to cry for the things that we’ve lost.
I went out with the crowd after rehearsal tonight, as I’m going to a conference tomorrow and can sleep in until at least 7:30. All it ended up being was a bitch session, as we all talked about how impossible it all seems.
Work continues to be difficult. We are all so overwhelmed with testing, meetings and reports that none of us know what to do. There’s just not enough time to do all that we need to.
I’m looking forward to the conference tomorrow. Not because it’s such a great topic (remediation programs for kids who fail the state-wide testing), but because it is only five minutes from my apartment and I don’t have to be there until nine!
It will feel like a holiday!
