Trivia: THE CHICAGO FIRE ACADEMY IS ON DEKOVEN STREET. WHAT WAS THERE IN 1871? The O'Leary barn - where according to legend, the family cow kicked over a lantern and started the Great Chicago Fire on Oct, 8, 1871. A few years ago, the Chicago City Council passed a resolution exonerating the cow and apologized to the O'Learys.

Communication

First I need to apologize for the link mess that was happening here the last couple of days. I have no idea how I goofed up so badly, except to say that I’ve been so tired that I’m doing stupid things.
Apologies. I think I’ve got it working correctly now.

I got a very surprising phone call today.
I got home to find a message asking me to call a person at one of the national stamping publications. This intrigued me, so I called and she asked me if I would be interested in contributing an article to the magazine as well as some of my work! I was dumbfounded. (I'd say speechless, but I'm rarely speechless She had seen an article in another stamping publication in which I was quoted. That came about because of an e-mail thread that had been going back and forth on my stamping list in late August/early September. The editor of the publication had seen my posting and asked if she could quote me. The woman who called me today had tracked me down because I'm a subscriber to her magazine.
In any case, I'm really under the gun if I'm going to do this, as she wants everything by Friday! I don't know if I can pull this off or not, but I plan to give it a shot. I'm going to see if I can pull it together on Sunday and get some artwork done, and at least start the article. I don't have to work on Monday (blessings to Chris Columbus), but we do have a performance, so I hope I'll have a bit of time then to work on editing the article. The problem is that she didn't give me any guidelines for length, etc.
It's kind of exciting, though. I'm working on getting into publications! Funny how things sort of just fall in your lap every once in a while.
Is this the start of the fame that was mentioned in my numerology report?
I actually heard from Michael twice today, but he made only a passing reference to the fact that I’m coming to NYC. I don’t know if that’s a "yes", a "no", or a "I haven’t decided yet".
The first e-mail came to tell me that he should have an article in the paper on Monday, unless the Yankees win. He was conflicted because he’s rooting for the Yankees. I sent a two line reply indicating my horror at that statement, and got a lengthy reply.
He apologized for not replying to the lengthy e-mail I’d sent him on Monday, telling me he’d been so busy that he’d saved it to "savor" later and to respond to when he had more time. I think I need to tell him that some of us wait anxiously to hear from him at the other end of the computer.
I blame "the girlfriend". It might just be that he has a lot of work, but I put the onus on her.
Witch.
But I heard from him, which is all that I should focus on.
I am in the process of having my heart broken by the Red Sox, an annual occurrence in my life. Yes, I 'd love to see them win and wipe out the loathsome Yankees, but I am not holding out a lot of hope.
I am, however, rooting for the Mets. Unless of course, by some miracle, they end up playing the Red Sox.
I WILL NEVER ROOT FOR THE YANKEES!!! I WANT THEM TO LOSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!
He asked me what I’d do if the Yankees do win and I replied:
I'll ignore all playoff and World Series games, and fall into a blue funk that will last for days. I'll operate in a state of constant denial and turn off the television and radio whenever they have sports reports. I'll sit home and watch taped episodes of "Iron Chef" because they are so poorly overproduced and have such bad dubbing that I laugh through them. It will have to be my substitute for Hara-kiri.
If he ever stumbles on this web site I’ll be in big trouble, he’ll recognize my words and my writing style immediately.
We had Keith’s birthday party at my parent’s house tonight. Chinese food, which is really bad for me.
I’m not sure what’s happening with him. He was clearly bothered by something and wasn’t himself. I think it had to do with school, but I’ll have to call my brother later to get the scoop.
Matilda had a meltdown right after dinner. I think she might have been bent out of shape that she didn’t get any presents. But she might have just been over-tired.
It was kind of a weird night.
Keith was quite happy with all the Nintendo and computer paraphernalia that he received.
He’s a great kid.
I have an all day rehearsal tomorrow, and then an turning around to get into Boston to see Sarah Brightman.
Am I nuts or what?
