Zelda Gaiden

- Prologue -

Hyrule’s Hall of Records lay dormant. Black, covered in shadow, like most of the historical records it held. The door at the other end opened and a stranger clad in a brown, worn-out, old travellers cloak entered, a strange gleams in his old eyes. The stranger lit the hall’s torches with his own, bringing an eerie, red glow to the long, shelved hall. He moved slowly and silently, as if hovering slightly above ground, over to the middle bookshelf, the one that held the Hylian legends and fables of old. He reached out with his scarred and battle-worn left hand and took an old, deteriorating book with a green cover and a depiction of an ancient Hylian rune, a mystic blade stuck in a small, neatly carved slab of stone. He took the book and made his way to the large, red scribe’s chair at the end of the hall. Slowly, he put aside his old walking staff, almost as tall as him and just as battle-worn, that had been supporting his near-dead right leg, pulled up his cloak slightly and sat down, laying the book on his lap. Pulling back the hood of his cloak, the stranger opened the book, his long, dirty-blonde hair gleaming in the torch-light as his long, dirty fingers caressed the pages while he rolled them over and began to read.
