2010 will mark the 15th year of the Halloween Foosball Tournament, in honor of this milestone, we will be presenting a special countdown to the tournament.  "15 to 15" will be an epic 15 week countdown to the big day of October 30, 2010.  Each week a new retrospective will be published to either the Halloween Foosball Tournament website or facebook group, including an individual look back at each of the 14 previous Halloween Foosball Tournaments; a compilation of 15 "top 15 lists" of Halloween Foosball Tournament related lists; exclusive interviews and features, and more.  In order to not be annoying the updates to the 15 to 15 countdown will all be released at a certain day once a week (other traditional updates to the Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes blog however will continue unchanged, primarily in October).  This should be a fun countdown and look back down memory lane as we look forward to the 15th Annual Halloween Foosball Tournament, now only 15 weeks away!

Halloween Foosball Tournament MMIX Live Blog

First Update 4:09 pm: Nick Lutz is here and the 2009 Halloween Foosball Tournament party has officially begun.  The Party is always a little slow starting, but so far we have heard from CK Mulenga, Linna Hor, Mark Troutt and Alex Figueroa.  The quest for 16 competitors is on!  Steve Ostis is playing South Park.  Jim Ostis is typing this and Nick Ostis is picking up Mark.

 

Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes for October 22, 2009

Sorry guys for the lack of updates this year.  Although the Halloween Foosball website has been lacking, preparations for the 14th Annual Halloween Foosball Tournament have not been suffering as a result.

 With only a few days before the tournament, the Halloween Foosball Tournament has released its seeding.  Per Halloween Foosball Committee policy officially, the top 8 players are seeded, however, further rankings are considered when setting up first round matchups.  This updated listing includes all possible candidates, with several high ranking players who are unable to compete being removed.  The list is subject to change.

 The ranked players are all players who have won a HFT singles match and are expected to possibly attend the tournament.  Of these 11, the top 6 are very solid to attend.  Mark Troutt is also expected to be there.  Angel, Patrick, Christos and Sothey's statuses are more up in the air.  There also is the chance that Angel could refuse to play, although we are hoping that he does play and put in the intense effort he is known for.

Other notable competitors that have confirmed their attendance are CK Mulenga, Nick Lutz, Linna Hor, Anthony Rodriguez, and I believe Sam Teppero. Two newcomers that are expected to compete are Jon Margi and Corey DeJesus.  Dave Grondine is one of the rumored newcomers who has yet to be confirmed.

Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes
Kenny Stuart is out of the 2009 Halloween Foosball Tournament.  After winning the "Sothey Long Stone Pillar Award" last year after advancing to the Final Four despite a broken collar bone, Kenny will be in Vermont on the weekend of the tournament.  He was expected to be the #4 seed in the tournament.   

Foosball Practice season is officially upon us.  Wilson Rith, after having missed last year's tournament, was among the first to come over and have some practice games with the residents.  He and Jim Ostis had some spirited games during halftime of the Patriots-49ers and following the Red Sox' loss to the Angels, which made Chip Carey happy.

With less than 3 weeks to go, there is a lot left to be done regarding this year's festivities.

News 'N Notes for 10/2/08

As we move into the month of October, the anticipation is building for the 13th Annual Halloween Foosball Tournament.  The tournament/party is expected to have a very political theme, as the event will be held only a week and a half before the United States presidential election.

As the article Politics & Foosball describes, this year won't be the first time that Presidential politics has played a role in the festivities.  Rumored to be involved in this year's event are Barack Obama, John McCain, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and many others.

The invitations for the event are being made. A group on facebook has been developed, including an event page for this year's event.  Myspace is next to follow. Word of mouth, however, remains the #1 method of informing people about the Halloween Foosball Tournament.  Nick Ostis has word that his long time doubles partner, Kyle Bielski, is expected to return in 2008 after missing the 2007 tournament.  Christos Stamas has also confirmed that he will once again be in attendance after notching his first Halloween Foosball Tournament victory in 2007.

Today is September 25th, exactly one month before the Thirteenth Annual Halloween Foosball Tournament.  As the countdown is officially on, there are several news items of note in regards to this year's event.

The Halloween Foosball Committee is planning to announce its top 8 seeding prior to the day of the event.  This announcement is pending the verification of attendance.  The hope is obviously that these top 8 will be confirmed attendees.  2007 champion Greg Ouellette has been assured the #1 seed in this year's tournament.  However that is not without risk, as Greg famously missed the 2005 tournament due to a lack of a ride. The entire Halloween Foosball community is dedicated to preventing such an occurance from happening again.

Last year's big work-related absentee was Wilson Rith. Tournament host, James Ostis is working with Wilson to guarantee his appearance this year.  Nick Ostis is reportedly reaching out to Kenny Stuart in a similar fashion.
