Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees, ALCS, Game Two, Tonight on FOX.

Once again...
How 'Bout them Red Sox?!?!

The Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees in game one of the American League Championship Series last night by a score of 5-2.  Tim Wakefield was the winning pitcher, while Mike Mussina picked up the loss.  Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, and Todd Walker were among the Sox players who cowboyed up and hit home runs in the victory at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

In other baseball related news, Angel Nales and James Ostis talked a great deal about the proposed softball game, and there's a very good chance it will officially go from proposal to reality very soon.  Angel is not only a strong proponent of the game, but he was in favor of having it be Mister Cyrs vs. Greg-Angel Yackadoodles part II,  by keeping the football rosters intact for softball.  Jim certainly was open to that idea, but so far isn't leaning one way or another in that department.  Both agreed that as long as there was enough to play 8 on 8, the game would be doable, although obviously 9 on 9 (or more) would be better.

Patrick Casserly chimed in, saying that he was too manly for softball.  "What are you guys queers or something," Pat said, before saying that the game should be baseball instead.  Jim told Pat the conditions which led them to the softball idea, but Pat answered "you guys just know you can't hit my fastball."  Jim actually made the concession to Pat that they would absolutely consider playing baseball instead, although the reasons for softball (age disparity among players, lack of equipment, no umpires, etc.) remain.  "I don't know if having Angel pitch a fastball to Gina would be fair.  Especially since she'd have no batting helmet." Jim said, "But I would certainly like to play baseball.  Its a matter of logistics, not personal desires, that we are leaning towards softball at this moment.  If it becomes apparent that actual hardball baseball would work, then certainly, we'd go that route."

Speaking of Patrick, it has now been learned that Jon Casserly, his brother, duh, is also at UMass Amherst.  So, it stands to reason that they will be able to come to the tournament as a package deal as long as transportation is worked out.  So far Pat has given every indication that he intends on attending.  That is of course, as long as they aren't all arrested.......

The real test for UMass Amherst is what they will do on Friday.  Will they hold a riot even with no Red Sox game?  Right now, Vegas odds stand at 5:7 in favor of yes.

Corey "Humperdink" Pinkham is over at the house this evening to watch the first few innings of the Red Sox-Yankees game.  His neighbor and archrival, Uncle Billy, may be in the area as well.

Finally, don't count Angel among the supporters of the Red Sox new team mantra.  He hates the phrase "Cowboy Up", saying that we're in the Northeast we don't talk like that.  He's so not gellin'.
