Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes

Its that time of the year again!!

The Date has been officially announced.  The Eighth Annual Halloween Foosball Tournament will be coming your way from Lowell, Massachusetts, one month from tonight, on Saturday Night October 25th, 2003. For the fourth year in a row, this website will be the online home of the annual Foosball extravaganza.

The Halloween Foosball Tournament is also making plans in case the Boston Red Sox need more than five games to win the World Series this year.  If the Red Sox are playing a Game Six of the World Series, it will occur on the same day as the HFT.  If that is the case, then the Halloween Foosball Tournament festivities will all be moved up a couple hours so that the champion will be crowned before the first pitch of the ballgame.

Of course, all the big names will be back.  James Ostis, Steven Ostis, and Greg Ouellette have already confirmed that they will be there.  Its also impossible to believe that defending champion Corey Pinkham's name won't be added to that list very soon.  The official Halloween Foosball Tournament press conference will be held sometime this weekend.  That has always been....interesting.

Speaking of Steve and Corey.  They apparently enjoyed working together as a doubles team so well that they've decided to work together full time.  Steve has joined Corey as an employee at the Boys & Girls' Club.  This is of course significant, because it was at the Boys' Club on Middlesex St that Corey Pinkham learned how to play foosball, and the rest is history.  Nick Ostis, who faced Corey in Corey's first finals appearance has joined the Boys' club as a member, leading some to speculate as to whether Nick will benefit greatly from learning from two of the greatest schools of the Halloween Foosball Tournament.

This year, in addition to the eighth annual singles tournament, the doubles tournament will be back for a third time.  The Big Game between the Mister Cyrs and the Greg-Angel Yackadoodles is also planning for a comeback after being rained out a year ago.  Other plans for this year include a Madden 2004 Tournament of sorts, as well as the "Tetris Challenge."  There is also hope that a hockey game will held in addition to the football game.  The Halloween Foosball Committee is keeping the door open to all possibilities.

The website will be updated for this year's tournament over the next few weeks leading up to the tournament.  Despite some technical difficulties that have caused a slight alteration, the popular Online Virtual Halloween Foosball Tournaments will be back for a third year in a row.  The Celebrity Tournament especially figures to be very intriguing as we have a whole new field, and it is wide open.  Updates to the Meet the Players section will be coming shortly.  I also still encourage everyone to sign the damn Halloween Foosball guestbook as well and talk some trash there about who you think is going to win it it all in 2003.

Also an update on a story appearing at the foosball website over the winter.  It was once believed that fourth tape of the 2002 Halloween Foosball Tournament, which contained footage of everything from the doubles final to the tournament's conclusion was ruined.  In a surprising, but truly great turn of events, it was learned that the tape in question was not actually the HFT tape.  Which video was ruined is still unknown, however all of the 2002 Halloween Foosball Tournament footage is safe and sound.

That is it for this special early edition of the Halloween Foosball News 'N Notes. Check back at the website for all the news you'd ever need about the Halloween Foosball Tournament.  Daily News 'N Notes updates will begin, as has been the tradition, on October 1st.

One Month to go!
