Its hard to believe that we’re already here, but there are now only 6 days to go until the ninth annual Halloween Foosball Tournament. The Halloween Foosball Tournament website hasn't been as updated as often as usual, mostly due to the events that are sharing the spotlight with the HFT this year namely the 2004 Election and the Boston Red Sox' march towards a World Series championship. However even if there is a clinching Game Six overshadowing it that night, (which is a very real possibility), the Halloween Foosball Tournament will still be a huge event this Saturday in its own right.
The potential conflict with Game Six has left Saturday's schedule up in the air. If the Red Sox and Cardinals are playing Saturday night then the HFT will defer to the World Series and we will try to get the entire day's worth of festivities done by the first pitch. If the Red Sox win the series before Game 6 then the tournament will mostly go on as expected, unless there is a championship parade in the afternoon which would just move the schedule back a little.
Since today is the Monday before the tournament an annual tradition dating back to 2001 had to be satisfied and has been. Taping has begun on the Halloween Foosball Tournament Six-Day Countdown Show. The tradition of the Six Day Pre-game show has gone back several years and has included such historic moments as Jim putting a Rithy Uong bumper sticker on his car, Jimmy Tran and Maria playing that dancing PS2 game whatever the hell its called, and Figaro just being a cat last year.
Corey Pinkham may have to work at a stupid pool rental this Saturday despite the fact that the Greater Lowell Boys and Girls' Club knows that the 2004 Halloween Foosball Tournament will be that day. While this shouldn't affect Corey's availability for the tournament, his status for the Big Game may be in question now. The rental is at 1:00 so certainly he will be less likely to miss anything if there is no game six than if there is one. Another question is whether the much anticipated first round match between the four time Halloween Foosball Tournament champion and his arch nemesis, Uncle Billy, will actually take place.
One person whose status is really up in the air is Angel Nales. Word is he may have to miss the 2004 HFT due to being scheduled at Electronics Boutique. As of press time, Angel was still trying to work out a change in schedule that would allow him to go to work in the morning that day instead of from 4-10.
Despite repeated hints that he would, Greg Ouellette has yet to come back to Lowell to practice or prepare for this weekend's tournament. It is not known whether he plans on returning to the Mill City on Friday or Saturday.
Wilson Rith thought that the Halloween Foosball Tournament was last Saturday leading to a confusing conversation with Jim on the telephone.
