Halloween Foosball Tournament accomplishments
"The Game of Foosball" Steve is one of the few people who has competed in every single Halloween Foosball tournament. In 1996, Steve lost to eventual champion Greg in the first round. He would have a chance at revenge in 1997, in the finals, after a shocking upset of his brother, Jim, Steve met Greg in the 1997 championship game, and with the largets fan support ever for a Halloween Foosball game, Steve fell short. In 98, Steve lost to Nicky in the second round. Then in 1999, Steve won it all. It all started with a controversial bye over Nick L, when he left and no suitable replacement was found. After that Steve defeated his brother Nicky, then finally beat Greg in a stunning semi-finals on his way to a match vs. Corey. Corey was the heavy favorite, but Steve had the fans (and James Higson's goldfish) on his side and they all went home happy after Steve won the final Halloween Foosball championship of the 90's. In 2000, Steve returned to the finals for a 3rd time (and second straight) in a rematch against Corey. This time, Corey won, however, the important thing for Steve was that he proved he could win in an even year. He defeated Greg in the semi-finals that year, his second straight victory over Mr. Ouellette. His winning streak vs. Greg was snapped last year however, as Greg defeated Steve in the semi-finals.
Rivals: Greg: they have met 5 times over the 6 tournament years and four times in the final four or later, After splitting the first four, Greg won the rubber match in 2001....
Corey: it may have been a friendly rivalry, but James Higson's infamous goldfish episode may have made it more personal They met in back to back finals, but were actually teammates in 2001...
