| FRAG TANK - A pic of one of my frag tanks looking down on the water surface, this tank has a single 400 W Iwasaki bulb
pic
| Pink with yellow tips (white, and even blue tips
under some lighting conditions) Acro, polyps extend a lot under some
conditions decreasing the intensity of the pink color (too bad) - moderate
to slow growth rate, orig. from Mark C., IL, might be A. millipora- does best under at least 250 W MH pic
| Pink with blueish tips (under MH),
continues to grow well and tips turn blue with green farther down the
branch for a phenomenal color under VHO, originally a Palau fram-raised piece from FFExpress, moderate growth rate - under MH - pic,
smaller colony under VHO - pic

| Larry Jackson's purple-tipped Acro.
- orig. from Inland Aquatics, IN. - very fast growing - hardy - brighter
light brings out more purple - pic of main mother colony after movement to
lower position in tank, before colony was moved lower in tank (due to it
growing to the water surface) the purple color extended much farther down
the branches - pic,
pic of small colony typical morphology - pic
| Purple-tipped Acro. - similar to L.
Jax Acro above, but with more open structure and somewhat finer branches -
might be same species as L. Jax's - orig. from New England Aquarium -
moderate growth rate - seems to loose purple tips under 400 W Iwasaki MH in early experiments pic
| Purple-tipped, green-polyped Acro.
- slow grower - thinner branched than above Acros - don't know what final
morphology will be since still too small, seems to need intense light for
decent growth rate, might be Acropora horrida, Veron, pg. 160 - orig. from
Mark C., IL. - pic

| Another more recent photo of the above, Purple-tipped, green-polyped Acro.
. - pic

| White-tipped brown very
long-branched Acro - A. pulchra? - white tips only under intense light,
very fast growth - nice wide open branch structure - a bit slow to encrust, does not grow much at all under 2X VHO - orig. from Greg S. in
NYC - pic
| Blue-tipped, 'hairy'-polyped
long-branched Acro, A. abrolhosensis? - very fast growth - wide open
branch structure - grows well and maintains color, even under 2X VHO, orig. from Greg S. in NYC. - this pic is from a colony under 2X VHO - pic
| Blue-tipped, long branched Acro -
A. formosa? - moderate growth rate - orig. from Mark C., IL. - sorry the
baby blue tips did not show up in this photo - pic
| Bright green tissue with green
polyps Acro - grows very fast - a slimer - orig. from Inland Aquatics, IN.
- have had one occasion with tissue recession with this coral, but
generally hardy - shot of a frag - pic
| Blue-tipped Acro. - the blue is
intense and very nice, under some lighting conditions the color extends
down a ways from the tips, moderate growth rate - more of a bushy growth
form than above blue-tipped Acros, under some conditions blue color only
highlights the outline of every polyp, for a stunning effect - pics of
small frag - pic
- under less intense light color is still good and growth structure is
more open and (IMO) pleasing, may be more susceptible to RTN than other
Acros, a bit difficult to frag, frags smaller than 1-2 inches often do not take, orig. from Mark C, IL.

| Purple-tipped Acro with appressed
corallites - slow growing - orig. from Mark C. IL. - pic
| Brown/tan, almost yellow Acropora elseyi (as identified by Tropicorium, id may be wrong)
very fast growing, a bit sensitive immediately after fragmentation - pic
| Aqua with blue tips Acropora sp? fast growing, grows well from small frags, - originally from Sang L. in CA - looks best under a bit of VHO - the photo does not accurately catch the color - pic
| Greenish-yellow Acropora ?loripes?, fast growing, grows well from small frags, has very unusual growth form for an Acropora - originally from Warren G. - color gets a bit washed out under 400 W MH - pic
| Chocolate brown, Acropora kirstae (as identified by Tropicorium), long, thin, sometimes slightly curving branches, can
grow very quickly, but somewhat sensitive to changes in light intensity (I've had problems adapting it to 400 W Iwasaki MH), moderate to very fast growth rate, near zero polyp extention is normal - pic
| Brown with pale tips and green highlights, Acropora sp. - first Acro I ever grew, very hardy, branches tend to curl a bit, excellent starter Acro, moderate to very fast growth rate, near zero polyp extention is normal - pic
| Solomon Ilsands brown table-top Acro, brown with green highlights, Acropora sp. - collected in Solomon Ilsands - very hardy for a table top Acro, moderate to very fast growth rate pic

| M. digitata
orange - fast grower -
nearly pink under intense lighting, somewhat difficult to adapt to 400 W MH - orig. from Flying Fish Express - pics
of small colony - pic
| M. digitata - green - fast grower - very bright under intense lighting - unlike some M. digitata grows well directly under 400 W MH,
orig. from Greg S., NYC - pic
| M. digitata - purple - fast grower - very bright under intense lighting, this pic is from the main tank under 250 W Iwasaki's, this colony regrew from a patch that I attempted to remove competely by cutting away all the skeleton, and grinding the polyps down with a butter knife, obviously I was unsuccessful (ONE TOUGH CORAL),
orig. from local hobbiest - pic
| M. digitata - brown - fast grower - orig. from micro frag from Ultimate Reef
in NH (closed) - pic
| M. capricornis? (looking at Veron's new series of books this is probably M. foliosa, or M. deliculata) - orange - very fast
growth rate, can slowly be adapted to 400 W MH, tends to encrust less in bright light - forms beautiful whorled structure - orig. from Mark C. in
Chicago, easily burned by other corals (do not let them touch it!) - pic
| M. ?taiwanensis? - green - slow to moderate growth rate - bright green
under VHO, seems to turn a very pale green under intense MH - much thicker
laminar plates than orange whorling Montiporas above - orig. from Warren G. -pic
