He slaps his guitar for a backbeat, picks the melody out on a couple of strings, scratches the low-strings with his pick for extra percussion and singing background vocals."

I first heard of Howie Day in May 2001, when I went to the Paradise Rock Club in Boston for an Evan and Jaron concert. Howie was one of the opening acts, and I was instantly blown away by his pure musical talent. He was (in my opinion, hehe) a cute blond guy, up on stage by himself playing music that had a really distinct, memorable sound. My friend Megan was with me, and she was instantly smitten. She loved his Mickey Mouse baseball shirt ;). After Evan and Jaron performed, we were leaving the club and who walks right by us but Howie?! He was nice enough to stop and shake our hands, and he was a genuinely nice guy. I'd recommend his music to anyone, and if you get the chance, see him live!! He puts on a great show!
