By the time the Harbor Review goes to press the Nahant Lions Club will have served over 175 Mothers Day Pancake breakfasts. This event is rapidly becoming a Nahant institution. All the proceeds from this event go directly to eye research and the education grant for a deserving Nahant high school graduate. Our special thanks go out to Peter Dawson and the Nahant Country Club staff. We could not accomplish what we do without their support. The Nahant Country Club is truly "the best clubhouse on the East Coast." But, that is not all.
By the time you read this article the Nahant Lions Club will have held a golf tournament at Kelley Greens, complete with lobster, steak, raffles and fun. Again, all proceeds going to eye research and our annual education grant.
While you take the time to read this marvelous monthly periodical
the Nahant Lions will
have collected eyeglasses for recycling. Glasses are cleaned and
refurbished for
distribution worldwide. Please think before you toss those old,
unfashionable glasses
into the trash. There is someone who will benefit from them. We
collect them at the
Johnson School.
By the time you read this plans will be made by the Nahant Lions Club to assist our senior citizens and their families in easier access to local areas.
By the time you read this the Nahant Lions will have honored our veterans who gave their lives defending our democracy.
These are the things we doall year long. We are blessed to have as a member, Dr. Charles Schepens, who is known worldwide, as a pioneer in eye research. He reminds us of the task we have at hand. Sight is a miracle. We do not think about it unless our own or someone near to us is robbed of their ability to see. Someone you know is challenged by vision problems or serious diseases of the eye. We are committed to contributing to eye research and hope that you will join us in our activities. The activities are always incredibly enjoyable, and you will meet some very special people.
