"Time Capsule."
"Pretentious? Moi?" cries Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon as we titter at his Millennial Time Capsule choices.
The flamboyant front man with the 80's biggest posers tells us he'd stock his time capsule with films by obscure Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni. "The most underrated actor of the 20th Century," says Le Bon.
Read on as Simon waxes lyrical about leather trousers, Ducati motorbikes and, er, Duran Duran, funnily enough.
"Oh, I couldn't possibly pick just one album," says Duran's Simon Le Bon of his Millennial Time Capsule choices.
"Why dwell on one artist? I'd compile my own album for this capsule thingy. I want something by the Sex Pistols in there, I want the Stones' Gimme Shelter, I want Al Green's Take Me To The River, I want Hendrix's Voodoo Chile and the second track from the first Underworld album, what's it called..." Ok Simon, we get the idea. You want your own CD!
Simon Le Bon would choose the Sony Walkman as his Time Capsule gadget. "It revolutionised music when it was invented," says Simon. "The ability to compile your own tapes and play them on the move basically made music mobile."
"You could say that it helped spawn the diversity of radio programming, too. Radio realised the need for diversity."
"At the time, the Walkman was the Ford Fiesta of musical gadgets."
Simon Le Bon's chosen item of clothing for his time capsule would be his snazzy pair of Lewis leather trousers.
"I ride a motorbike, well two actually! A 650 BMW and a Ducati 880. Lewis are tough but they look good too."
Ticket stub of the Millennium, Simon? "Man Utd's European Cup win over Bayern Munich. I'm a Man Utd fan and it's the most amazing game I've ever seen. I flew from Marseilles to Barcelona to see it and I'll never forget it."
"Paul Whitehouse is a genius," says Duran's Simon Le Bon. "I've got all the episodes on video. It's the funniest thing on telly." Consequently, Mr Le Bon has chosen The Fast Show as his Time Capsule fave TV show.
And fave film, Mr B? "Ooh, tough one. Well, Fellini's La Dolce Vita is just an incredible piece of film-making and Marcello Mastroianni's finest hour."
"I've also just seen Kevin Spacey's new film American Beauty. Very uplifting."
