The Mayville Cardinals traveled to Campbellsport to complete their season against the Cougars. Going into the game, the Cardinals held a 7-1 record, but came up short by a 21-13 margin to move their season record to a very respectable 7-2.

Again the Cardfinals defense gave up over 200 yards on the ground as Campbellsport picked up 229 yards on 47 carries. Campbellsport dominated the line of scrimmage, yet had it not been for two unfortunate fumbles, Mayville could have won the ball game. Evidence of their ball control was the fact that Mayville only had 37 offensive plays compared to the Cougar's 66 plays.

Mayville's first score came in the third qquarter with the Cards already in a 14-0 deficit. Perrie Apfelbeck scored on a 26 yard run with help from an excellent block by Burt Buschke to put him into the end zone. Apfelbeck's extra point was good to tighten the score at 14-7.

Later in the third period, the Cougars extended their lead to 21-7 on a one-yard touchdown run.

Later in the fouth period, Apfelbeck took a pass from Craig Walters and ran 30 yards for another touchdown. Perrie's kick was no good and the score remained 21-13.

For the third time this season, Perrie Apfelbeck scored all of the Cardinal's points, as he did against North Fondy and Horicon. He rushed nine times for 64 yards and John Preston had 17 carries for 96 yards. Making his return to the starting line-up, senior Jeff Feucht had a superb defensive game with 12 solo tackles and 2 assists. Also having good games were Mike Kaiser, Jerry Clark, Randy Klopfer, Jon Breselow and Roy Surita.

With the season ending, seniors Perrie Apfelbeck, Dennis Brummond, Jerry Clark jr., Scott Collien, Bill Dorst, Jeff Feucht, Jim Frane, Doug Hurst, Mike Kaiser, Randy Mester, Richard Poole, John Preston, Parviz Soulati, Tim Stommel and Craig Walters played their last game in a Cardinal uniform. Their two-year varsity record was 16-3.
