Doreen A. Calvanese
February 09, 2002 - East Longmeadow - Doreen ("Twiggie") Calvanese, loving wife of Andrew ("Butch") Calvanese and devoted mother of six and grandmother of eight, died of complications for cancer on Saturday at her home in East Longmeadow. She was 63.
A life-long, much loved and admired Pioneer Valley resident, she was the daughter of Alfred and Buelah Menard. From the time of her own mother's death at an early age, she devoted her life to motherhood. She was a tireless giver of love and compassion, focusing her love and generosity on those who needed it most. As well as being a talented homemaker, seamstress, cook, and craftswoman, she also contributed enormously to the success of the family business responsible for many wonderful experiences at both Suffield and Wilbraham Country Clubs.
She leaves behind her loving husband and life-long companion, Andy, her sister Sandra Menard of East Longmeadow, sister Geraldine Honeyman of Ingelside, Il., brothers Benard Menard of West Springfield, Roland Menard of Cape Cod and Jerald Menard of South Hadley, daughters Deb Lapaire of Hadley and Robin of Holyoke and sons Tom of San Francisco, Vinnie of South Hadley, Donald of Hampden and Andrew of East Longmeadow. She will be missed by countless others whose lives she enriched with joy, compassion, laughter and unconditional love.
