Its pretty safe to say that the Halloween Foosball Tournament is an event unlike any other. Started in 1996, this October will marked the 8th consecutive year that competitors will challenge to win that prestigous Circular Piece Of Wood.
The Sunkist Championship is the brainchild of the Halloween Foosball Committee in an attempt to feel some of the excitement of the HFT during the summer months. This tournament to be held sometime in June will serve as a sort of transition and a kickoff to the preparation for the HFT in October. It would be the Summerslam to the HFT's Wrestlemania.
When the idea of a summer tournament first formed during the winter of 2002, an idea for a special prize came up. The winner of the summer tournament would recieve a 24 can pack of Sunkist Orange Soda. Its a pretty bizzarre idea, and only the minds behind the Halloween Foosball Tournament could think that up.
Like the Halloween Foosball Tournament, the Sunkist Championship figures to be a major sporting extravaganza, of which Foosball is only a part of it. Whereas the HFT has the Big Game (Football) and has seen big games of hockey and basketball also be held during its festivities, some more summer themed events are being considered for the Sunkist Championship, including perhaps the "Biggest Pool Ball Game Ever."
