Railroad time
by Gail

The saying goes, you can't build a railroad
before railroad time. You have to have
the right tools, the knowledge to lay the track,
forge the steel, weld the engine that won't
blow up over the distance it has to go.
And we both know it's true;
in our own lives we have seen the dinosaurs
fall into the tar pits, reaped the fields with first
stone, then metal scythes, heard the stories of inventors
claiming breakthroughs in every one of our relationships.
Now it's time to use that knowledge to build
that train that will take us to whomever we need,
that will bring us to our own green and promised land.
