I stroll the empty beach now,
Letting memories fill my heart;
Our cherished times together,
Before we ever had to part.
The coastline so deserted,
Seems to travel on for miles;
Just like all yesterdays,
Of you... and all our smiles.
Remembering how it felt
To walk these shores with you;
A hundred... no, a thousand times,
Yet each time was brand new.
The wind whipping at my hair,
Seagulls crying overhead;
The only other sound,
Are the memories in my head.
And though the air is crisp,
My face can't feel the cold;
My tears now keep me warm,
With no one here to hold.
The years have passed too quickly,
Our story is almost done;
But right now... my heart remembers,
When our song had just begun.
The waves crash all around me,
My proof... the world goes on;
Regardless of the emptiness,
I've felt since you've been gone.
I'll smile because it happened,
But forever.... makes me cry;
It was all I ever wanted,
It's not easy to say good-bye.
