There She Stands

Jacqueline’s Junque

By the dawn's early light,
watch proudly as she waves;
the symbol of our country,
land of the free... home of the brave.
Take a look at her colors,
understand what they all mean;
think of those who died for her,
in pursuit of her ultimate dream.

That all of us should be granted
our God given unalienable rights;
the times when the pursuit of those,
have led her into a fight.
We've seen her torn and tattered,
at half mast in times of sorrow;
Yet brilliantly she waves once more,
providing hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Pledge to her your allegiance,
according to tradition and fashion;
Guard her and protect her,
With a great patriot's passion.
Give her honor, give her reverence,
give her the respect that she commands;
Representing the hope of freedom....
There she stands.

Today the flag consists of thirteen horizontal
stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white.
The stripes represent the original 13 colonies,
the stars represent the 50 states of the Union.
The colors of the flag are symbolic as well;
red symbolizes hardiness and valor;
white symbolizes purity and innocence;
and blue represents vigilance,
perseverance and justice.
