Come on in, sit awhile, relax. I am going to take you on a tour of Japan. The land of the rising sun. Home of the Samurai and the Geisha. Japan is a country riddled with honor and rich traditions.

I am going to bring you on a journey. An adventure deep inside the island of Japan.

Japan is a great archipelago of islands that stretches from latitude 43° north to about 28° north, so that there are great variations of climate in the country, both from place to place and from season to season. The main island of Honshu is where the most of the population lies, only 20% of the land is populated, which consists of coastal plains, narrow valleys and a few basins in the mountains. Making those areas among the most populated zones in the world.

While retaining its time-honored culture, Japan rapidly absorbed Western technology during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After its devastating defeat in World War II, Japan recovered to become the second most powerful economy in the world and a staunch ally of the US. While the emperor retains his throne as a symbol of national unity, actual power rests in networks of powerful politicians,  bureaucrats, and business executives. The economy experienced a  major slowdown in the 1990s following three decades of  unprecedented growth.
