Dedicated to my Dear Friend

On August 12, 1995, My boss, Co-worker, and most of all Friend, Thomas Henson was shot during a robbery. He leaves behind a son, Thomas Henson, who was 4 years old at the time. This took place at my current place of employment. To this day those who were there at the time of his death still remember him in our hearts. I want to dedicate this page to him. He lives on in our hearts and memories, he is a true hero to me.

When his son little Tommy was born Tom was on drugs and lost his son to Department of Social Services. He was very upset with his own behavior and the fact he lost his son. He started from a homeless shelter and quit doing drugs. He then obtained employment at KFC. He also moved into a small apartment and recieved visitation with his son, his grandmother had custody of him. On holidays little Tommy's grandmother would invite Tom to stay over so he could be with his son. She knew how much he loved him. ( He did what ever it took to get there, even if it meant walking for miles in all kinds of weather.) He worked his way up to shift supervisor, later applied for housing, working to get custody of his son. In the spring of 1995 he was told that in June he would obtain custody of his son. He was over whelmed with joy. That was his goal and he didn't care about anything else. He obtained custody in May of 1995, having an apartment for himself and his son. He was extremely happy, he worked very hard for that day. On August 12, 1995, he was shot during a robbery. This was 8 days after his 36th birthday.

For all he did for his son I have the highest reguards. The memory I cherish is how hard he worked to have his son by his side. He changed his life to make a better one, not for just himself but his son. His unselfish and devine love will always stand out, not only to those who knew him, also for those who read this page. He is a hero, with this memory one day when his son is old enough, I will tell him how much of a hero his Dad was. It is still hard to talk about because to this day I still cry. I am glad that I knew him even if it was for 9 short months. I cherish the times we spent together after work. I miss the times that we no longer can share.

This one's for you Tom

At Christmas time we get together and make sure that little Tommy has a good Christmas. Each year the District Manager and the Owner of the store contribute money, and together with all of us, little Tommy has a good Christmas.
