The purpose of this project is to:
Audience:
The audience of this page will be members of the Duxbury Public Schools
community. At some later date, you may make this site available to
the Duxbury High School website. If accepted, it would be visible
to members of the Duxbury community, and internet users worldwide.
Development Tools:
Use whichever html editor you wish to make this page. You may
use Notepad or Composer. The pages must work properly in both Netscape
or Explorer. For rotation and editing of photos, you should use Photoshop.
Folders and directories:
You should have a project directory in your site at this time.
It should be called YournameMendo. Inside the mendo directory should
be an "Index.htm" a "Graphics" directory and an "Html" directory.
Inside the html directory should be all webpages. Inside the graphics
directory should be all pictures and graphics used on the pages.
Upload any changes you make to the mendo directory to your site with the
FTP software.
Navigation system:
The individual pages will need a navigation system, so that the user
of the page can get to different aspects of the project easily. Use
links on your pages to guide users to additional information on subtopics.
Create a link
from your Principles Index page, and a link back
to your Principles Index page from your Mendocino Index.
Graphics:
The use of graphics should be done in a way that enhances the
user's understanding of the content of the site. You should use photos
and graphics that directly relate to the subject. Use of the digital
camera can make your illustration more effective. Use of cartoons
and moving gif's should be discouraged unless they directly relate
to the content of the page. Graphics should be placed in a folder
inside your Mendocino directory. You can link to them from other
parts of your site.
Text:
The purpose of the text on your pages is to demonstrate that you have
an understanding of the concepts involved. Your
writing should be clear and concise. Certain words that represent
larger concepts that need greater clarification should be linked to other
documents on the web or in your site that help you explain your argument.
You are not expected to write a huge and detailed thesis on the theoretical
principles. (example: Why
Gore Lost Florida, Maglev
site)
Create a set of pages, each of which has a different purpose in the
site.
1. Index
The first page that the user views when visiting your project site.
It indexes all of the other pages in the site, allowing for smooth navigation.
The page should not be larger than the screen of the computer. It
should have no scrolling features. It should be in the same directory
as the html and graphics directories.
The page should be called Index.htm
2. Manufacturing
What manufacturing techniques and processes have you used to make this
project?
What are the connections to real world Manufacturing How could
these techniques be used? How are these techniques being used in
the world and community?
(Example: mass production,
manufacturing systems, etc.)
The page should be called MendoManu.htm
3. Solar
How does the Mendocino Motor use solar energy?
What are the connections to real world solar energy? How could solar
energy be used? How is solar energy technology being used in today's
world? What is its' potential?
(Example: solar products, power generation, energy
efficiency)
The page should be called MendoSolar.htm
4. Electricity
How does the Mendocino Motor use Electricity?
What aspects of your work on this project are involved in the area
of electricity?
(example-soldering, winding the motor, circuitry, etc.)
What are the real world connections to electricity? How could electricity
be used? How is electricity being used?
(Example: electric circuits, wiring, etc.)
The page should be called MendoElec.htm
5. Magnetism:
How does the Mendocino Motor use Magnetism?
What are the connections to real world Magnetism? How could magnetism
be used? How is magnetism being used in the world and community?
(Example: toys, maglev trains, motors, speaker systems,
etc.)
The page should be called MendoMag.htm
8. Money
This page should discuss the monetary aspects of the Mendocino motor.
What is the impact of money on the motor and this project? What implications
does the motor have on finances in the world and community?
The page should be called MendoMoney.htm
7. Links page:
This page should be a collection of links that you have used to create
these pages. These links should be in the format of those shown on
the Robotics Link Page
Description of link-Address of link
