In October of 1999 Jerry Peterson and I walked up to Crescent Lake to fish for Grayling. It was a BEAUTIFUL fall day with a bit of nip in the air. We had a great time, and here are a few of the pictures.
Here is Jerry at the start of the trail. It's about 7 miles
into the lake. Though the first bit looks like this, it soon
gets narrower and steeper. Still, a lot of people ride bikes in.
Jerry ahead of me on the trail. I enjoy hiking with Jerry
as he is "destination focused" like me. He also hikes just
as fast as I do, if not a tad faster.
Somewhere around half way you encounter this bridge. I'm not
sure how they got the metal trusses and stuff up here, unless
it was by snowmachine. Crescent Creek runs under the bridge.
Here it is fast and slightly cloudy with runoff.
A view down the valley from just before the bridge.
A view after you break out of the treeline into the lake's
valley. I love the mountains. You're not far from the lake here.
There is another bridge over the creek right at the lake.
This picture is taken from the lake side.

Once we set our packs down and broke out our gear, Jerry
wasted no time getting a line in the water.
And was immediately rewarded with a nice little grayling!
I wasn't far behind Jerry and soon tied into one myself.
Grayling are such a pretty fish. They also are fairly
easy to catch with a fly rod.
As the day wound to a close, we got ready to leave. However
I made one more cast.....
....let it drift....
....STRIKE!.....
(by the way....most of the little black things in the pics are fish!)
...and FISH ON!....
All in all we caught and released about 50 fish each that day.
Though the biggest fish was maybe 16 inches, with light gear
it was a blast! This trip rates as one of my top ten fishing
days of all time--both for fun and fish caught.
