Mr.Campbell Newman, former Hon. Lord Mayor of Brisbane, is unrelated, his family being orig. fr. Tasmania and Canberra;  he was b.1963 to parents who then lived in Tasmania.  Whilst sharing the same first and last names may be pure coincidence, it might plausibly arise fr. fact that K.A.M.A.Newman was b. K.A.M.A.Campbell in what is now Canberra, and was well-known as a daur. of Fred CAMPBELL of Yarralumla.  Her family's home was resumed in 1913 as the Governor-General's residence, and when she married C.E.T.NEWMAN both took a keen interest in national politics.  The politician and former Lord Mayor was b. to Jocelyn and Kevin NEWMAN, both orig. political figures in Hobart, Tasmania, later of Canberra, A.C.T. The coincidence remains a mystery to the author, of the same name and state of residence, but diverging politics, b.1957.

Postscript

The late Senator Kevin Newman, the now former premier's father, was for a time a cadet at Royal Duntroon Military College, whose HQ 'Duntroon House' was built as the country retreat of Robert Campbell, Merchant of Wharf House, Sydney (d.1846).  This is the only link I am aware of between the Campbell and Newman names that might explain the coincidence.  On the Newman side, however, Chris' website includes a reference to one Everard Newman, a distant 17th C. relative living in Bristol, who was ancestor to a New Zealand premier, and I believe to Kevin Newman and his son Campbell (my namesake).  CN, 26/5/2015.
